cement question help please
odd one but yesterday i installed a safe, its been bolted into the wall and also into the floor boards, i want extra security so im going to partition around the safe and fill it with cement as the lid is at top i can vertually submerge the safe in the cement
its only a small safe and its inside a cupboard, i think in a load of cement will make it a right pain in ass to try to remove
but what cement? i just want to mix something and pour it in, i know theres normal cement that you mix sand and water with but is there anything else available from b&q etc?
how do they make the cement bricks or like the curbs for side road, thats a cement isnt it? can i buy something like that?

Cement is a cement and sand mix. To give it any strength you need to add an aggregate (small stones) and make concrete. For the ultimate, you want to incorporate some steel mesh, like they do when erecting concrete bridges, dams, flyovers etc.
Be sure to line your shuttering with something slippery (linoleum or vinyl is good) or it will leave a very nasty finish when you remove the formwork.

why go to the hassle of cement? proper safes have a fire rate mastic that goes underneath/ on the back etc as well as the fixings what more do you need? the fixings are hidden?

extra security mate, like it is now theres not a chance of them getting a crow bar in there to try rip it out, the whole safe bar the door is in concrete, access is tight, all in all im more happy, i havent finished yet lol, i think of more ways to make it harder
if your gonna do it might aswell do it properly

gues it depends on what safe your fitting then mate, the ones i've fitted have and outside that gets fixed to the wall and floor and instructions show you fix it with a fire proofed mastic type glue supplied and is solid, cant get underneath due to it having a lip, but sounds like it will be as secure as hsbc lol

you would still be able to rip it out if the concrete is not thick enough or not reinforced.
concrete is only good under compression not tension, thats why its reinforced with steel.

oh dear, that stuff is crap , i could chip it away with my teeth. trust me it wont take much to crack that stuff up.
all you want is some ballast, cement and some feb. make a 'green' mix using 2:1 ratio and a splash of feb will make it even harder. you can use fariy liquid instead of feb this makes the mix even harder still.

Concrete bank vaults are made with super hard concrete, mega attention to ensuring ALL air bubbles are removed. The concrete is also about 40% hardened steel wire sections maybe about 50mm long, pushed into the mold/shutter before the concrete is poured. This makes drilling through almost impossible.
Might give you a few ideas.

Whos told ya that? Fairy liquid is the devil of bricklayers tricks! If any bricky used it on my job he'd be off! What does fairy do? Make air bubbles. You want air out of concrete to make it strong thats why it gets pokered/vibrated! Brickes use fairy to fluff the mortar up to make it more playable!

well gave it a wack with a chissel and hammer this morning and its rock solid, although still not quite gone off yet
to be honest once its proper set ill go at it big style with a crowbar and chissel, if im not happy ill rip the concrete out and do it again
pmsl at the porn, it will only contain the usual stuff passports paperwork etc, ok yes some cash but not what you would consider to be loads
to be honest my bro in law got burgled and they found his stash of cash and he lost 2.5k
this sparked off my efforts to try and save my belongings, however i do realise if i had enough in there and it was common knowledge they would just put a knife to me and make me open it lol
