its no ford and its only a month old! yesterday i noticed the paint on the front bumper had done this...

its an 08 plate S2000, is it a defect that honda should be sorting before i go and pay them a visit at lunch?

It looks like its coming from underneath so i would say yes. And i imagine they will anyway considering its so new. it doesnt look like its been caused from the outside unless something very hot has been up close to it.
And im sure it would not cause that sort of pattern.
id be back there strieght away, it will cost them next to nothing to repaint the bumper.

cheers mate i am off in an hour or so to go and see them, nothing has been near it apart from a few dead flies!
will i also be entitled to a car whilst its in?

try youre luck. they know that they are going to see you for warrentie issues and if you have the car on finance then speak to the salesman you bought it from.
he will try and give you the best aftercare rather than cause a problem

The bumper could have been pushed by another car and caused such a 'crease', other than that heat may have caused it, or it looks to me as though the paint is reacting to something underneath it.
Definately speak to Honda mate

Funny enough a few years back my mate had a honda integra and he had paint problems with the bumpers. Honda took some samples and repainted the bumpers for him. Apparently they are very good when they come to things like this

well no jaz and certainly no civic!
local honda dealer looked stumped but did say he wanted to make sure as he will have to pay the bill if honda wont! sounded good so far.... gave me a business card of the garage that they use and rang him to say i was on my way....
get there he says i have never seen one like that before and have been doing honda's for 9 years. Thats no warranty claim they wont pay that :banghead:
he took a crap picture in the sunlight and said he would forward it on to honda. i have been busy with work all day but havent heard from the garage or honda all day :banghead:
am going to my painters tomorow to see what he has to say, the sprayer basically said something has run down the paint whilst you have been driving
its been dry up here for nearly 2 weeks now so wtf could have done that and then dissapeared!
i would happily hold my hands up and pay if i thought it was right but this realy doesn't look external to me
is there anything else i can apart from take the garage and his 1 megapixel camera's answer?

110% heat has done that! i work in a body shop and have seen this before, not on a s2000 though, it is caused by something red hot being on the bumper for a prolonged period of time, wether from inside or outside,
may be look behind the bumper to see if a pipe follows the fault line on the bumper?

on my old one thats where the induction kit used to sit and there was nothing hot behind it? will peer up see if i can see anything.
apart from that nothing has external been near the outside, i have pushed it a little hard on the private test track could that have triggered things?

Bumper might have been repaired and that's the paint or primer reacting.
I know it's new but you wouldn't believe the amount of cars I have seen need some paintwork before they even get to their first owner!
Honda will sort it no problem. My mate took his Teg back when it was 6 years old for them to sort the rear arches. 10 year corrosion warranty I think it was back then.

tried having a look behind the bumper but its all sealed up doesnt look to easy to get to!
i am certain this is a fault but they are just saying no way that is a warranty claim etc. Can i ring honda uk direct or something? still had no call from either the dealer or the garage!
am off at lunch to see my sprayer he will let me know what it is hopefully a fault!

been to my painters and he says nothing has touched it 100% the paint it too shinny etc its 100% caused from behind the paint. He belives the bumper to be creased and after he showed me you can clearly see he is right. The line then follows this crease...
he said more likey the heat and it being black has forced it to lift away and then harden again. this is coming from someone who would be getting the work if i had to pay for it!
been back to the stealers where the guy luck puzzled that i had returned. I had to wait 40 mins like whilst he was out on lunch! off he went to ring his body shop as i informed him i hadn't heard anything since. guess what bodyshop man is off for his lunch now!
told him i had been to 2 bodyshops and both said the same thing and that it was a defect with the bumper. Even though the "after Sales manager" admitted bodywork wasn;t really his thing! he was right etc etc....
Decided to go to the next local dealers and try there! much better service but sadly same result, they seam to think i have washed the car with a steamer and burnt my own car by doing so pmsl. i have some how managed to burn the actually plastic not the paint! yest the paint is all intact. At least they took some pics and sent it off to honda uk for a claim but told me they will reject it...
just have to wait for the phonecall and go from there i guess, great aftercar for a £30k car!

update:
dealer 2 rang back and in all honesty have been much better than dealer 1!
saldy they have news that it has been a rejected claim... asked for honda uk number so i could go further with this.
just rang them but again you dont seam to be getting very far. she took details over the phone of the damage and is going to ring the dealer and get back to me tomorow. thing is they wont see much via a photo you need to see and feel it in person really :S
i am still 100% nothing has touched my car to cause this.
What was a little odd was the dealer had the paint gauge is it that shows how thick the paint is? above the paint a normal reading, yet below and all around it the thing wouldnt read at all! ?? i am so sure there is damage behind it and the heat we are having has pushed this reaction out. some crappy camera sending photo's to honda just isnt going to help. i cant see what good asking honda has done either as they are going to review the claim via the pictures again :banghead:

seams i am getting no where fast!
had another busy day at work monday but had no call from honda again! (was told thursday they would be intouch friday!)
spoke to them this morning and lisa the person i dealt with is not in so they cannot go any further again until they have spoken to her.
The person however did tell me what was on her screen:
The damage has been caused by an overheating jetwash to the bumper!
i am absolutely gutted a dealer would do this even after me visting them explaining i dont even own one let alone doing it, no one washes my car but myself. I have 2 independant garages stating this is 100% not caused by something external! yet their report says i have jet washed my bumper so its not a warranty claim!
The bumper is warped you can clearly see its not flat and as a result of the hot weather the paint has lifted. Those were the words of the sprayers (who will get the job if its nota claim) so its in their interest to try and not get a warranty claim in!
Poor Poor show i hate having to chase people up when i have been told they will get back to be.
as it happens dealer 1 again havent even been in touch!
Can i reject the car and buy an ST or something!

i'd get in touch with CAB, and see what the best action to take is. I would inform Honda of your intention to take legal action and possibly your intention to reject the car.
I honestly can't believe they are being so shit over a little bit of paintwork? it'd only take a morning to have it fixed, costing them about £150 tops in labour and materials
I'd be sooo fuckin mad after spending that kind of cash!
