Default cosworth act sensor failure common?

my secs monitor & pectel monitor are coming up with an intermitent fault on the ACT sensor

i have checked pin 31 in the hairbrush plug and wires seem fine & i have removed the rubber boot from the act loom plug and they seem fine as well, so what is the chance of the sensor failing and going open circuit as that seems to be what is happening as the secs monitor comes up "

act sensor failure, out of range -40deg"

and pectel monitor reads 77deg

and ideas as i dont want to have to remove the whole loom

regards
marc

didnt think so but would the sensor failure be likely to show open circuit and give these readings do you think? spose replacing it is a cheap simple thing to try before i have to remove the loom to trace the fault

quite a common failure not so apparent as a run fault on l8 and p8 due to their ability to substitute values limp home strategy and error mask

it was the act sensor itself that had started to fail intermitently, fitted a new 1 and had the car on the rollers today for a few hours sorting my surge issue's and the sensor didnt show any faults at all.

cheers people
