Nissan 200sx?
the ones wth the pulsar gtir engines....
are these any good? What are the pro's and con's
Are they expensive to run as a cosworth? and most importantly would it be a better idea to get a cosworth instead.
cheers people!

We talking S14s yeah?
Not Pulsar engines.
They are SR20DETs, but very different to Pulsar engines. Tho many parts are interchangable, a Pulsar engine, even without manifolds, wouldnt swap over, if you get me.
As standard compared to the same price standard RWD Cossie...
As fast and powerful.
Stop better.
Handle miles better.
10 years newer.
Much more modern.
Far more reliable.
Parts are far cheaper and easier to get.
Tuning isnt quite as cheap as Cossies, but not far off, and can do 400bhp on stock internals and pump fuel just as easily and reliably as you can on a Cossie.
Handling is in a different world to a Cossie, and due to the mega amount of adjustable everything available and the fact its got proper multi-link suspension, it always will be.
More aftermarket modded parts available for them than any other car in existance, ever.
I love 3dr Cossies so id get one of them (AGAIN) if I could afford it, but forgetting any blinkers and Cossie love, you get a lot more for your money and a lot less to worry about breaking with a tidy S14.

I've driven both, and they handle better out the factory than a cossie!
Nice too in general, I nearly bought one the other week, But I was 1.3k short of the asking price

never knew that about the engine differences betwen pulsars but i did mean the SR20DET.
i have never driven a s14 but you would say they are just as fast, if not faster than a similar powered cossie?
and am i right in thinking there is a non turbo s14 available? what are the s14's with the sr20det engines called? (just so i dont start looking at the non turbos)

Only non-turbo ones were some imports. SR20DE engine. Looks the same, but follow the induction pipes, go from inlet to airbox, not thru turbo.
(and of course gay LHD american 240SXs, but you wont se one of them)
Yes, they weigh the same and if the true power is the same they are as fast. Stock S14a with a front mount, turbo back exhaust, filter, and 15psi, is fast. Thats about 260bhp in the real world, without even a chip (thats kind of on the limit of fuel cut on stock ECU), and happily revs to 7k+
Obv its good to go more, but thats a nice quick car without doing many mods, and takes a hell of a beating. Chatter mint if you block the stock dumpvalve stuff off too.
Try get an S14a Touring just as you got the nice side skirts as standard.

Seen this on pistonheads. want it to look like this so what has this owner done or rather not done to get it looking likr this??? dont know shit about them so can't tell what he's changed or hasn't changed.
don't want it to look over the top as most 200's end up coz it looks very tacky

nice one!!!!
sure its not your motor??? lol
i think its the wheels that make it look so much better in that case, fill up the arch nicely and sit nice and far out rather than to far in.

I'm sure Christian or Stav' will be able to go into more detail but the auto boxes are good for about 280bhp ish before they're on borrowed time so-to-speak. Auto to manual conversion kits are fairly plentiful on the SXOC though should the box either shit its self or you simply tire of the slush box.

No idea about box strength, but being an auto takes the fun outa it. Tho an easy conversion to manual. Well, I wouldnt do it, but still.
Did you see me showing off about it? Did you see anyone else helping him?
He asked me what has been changed, so I said what I saw to help him, big fucks
How can you tell if they Work Emotions? Look identical, but W.E's are far far rarer, far more expensive, and the owner is a lot more likely to remove the crappy Rota centre cap than a Work one.
Considering how small and low res the pic is, its amazing that you spotted Skyline calipers too, esp as painted up S14 ones look the same.
Gettng the offset right is amazing too.
Seems to me you tried to be clever and went n looked on the Pistonheads advert like a sad cunt
