i've been doing that with my dad and mine's policies
one year one, and the other year the other
but did you know what's mroe unfair than that?
it's them companies that offer ncb on the named drivers who can only actually use that ncb if they insure with the same company
how fucked up is that~?

nope, it's full years they coulnd not partial
it's the same scam as they pull when they give you a years discount after 10 monhts, only applicaable if you are using the same insurance company, who then stiff you for even more and do the opposite and charge you for 12 months when they are only giving you 10 mnths worht of cover

6 years no claims could be taken elsewhere and used as 5, so no big deal there.

but other companies don't accept it as a full condition, i asked and they said they didn't so i didn't bother with this bonus accelerator stuff
if you can find another company then fair enough, but i don't think you will
besides, i've got paperwork to proove i've got x amount % of no claims so thats what i use

Tell me about it - I've had a company van now for 2yrs and don't own a car - when I get a car if I leave my job, I don't get to use the three years NCB I built up, so it's as hard for me to insure a 1.1 Fiesta at 26yrs old than it is for a person of the same age to insure a Saff Cos, when they have full NCB

crap
well with my landrover for work the Golf gt tdi as the misses& my general weekend car, and my escort cos. im going to be paying £3200 for one year. I have 4 years NCBS (well 6 actually but the bastards never sent me the 1st 2 letters so no proof!!) i am 24 though!
Your F*%ked either way. pay through the nose, if you dont make a claim you have only paid the money to "stay legal" and the insurance company pocket the cash, If you make a claim you loose youe ncb and they still sting you with an excess and higher premium the next year.
YOU CANT WIN
Saying that though i do understand why insurance is needed and why its so expensive, due to the amount of pricks who think they are the next Mc Rae or are to dopey to be near a car!
Anyway rant over. simple answer is they got us over a barrel.

When I was doing cabbying I didnt have a private car for 2 years, as my taxi insurance was on the weekly I had no discount to carry over,
Ringing round nobody would accept my taxi insurance and I was standing to lose 8 years NCB, then a call to Adrian Flux sorted it, they asked me to prove my NCB from 2 years previous and voila,
I paid a little more on my premium for that year but hey, saved me 8 years NCB so I was very happy.

or fleet manager, or someone who works in the office who can write you a letter stating you haven't had any accidents while working with the company
if you don't have and ncb protection, a fault accident fucks you for 2 years worth of it, now that's unfair

i have done many times, "yeh yeh mate we'll send out the letter"
after asking like 10 times i feel a bit of a moaning old fart!
Its not an issue at the moment as my fleet policy does not take into account ncb's when price is concerned as its a business.
but i will want them back when i change in future.
