Default Divorce and name changes

I know its a of a depressing subject for a friday but my mum is going through it at the moment and I want to lighten the load a little by getting her the correct info or links to people that CAN help.

What is the best way of arranging a divorce quickly ?

Also how do you go about changing your surname ? she would like to go back to using my family name if possible.

Any help would be appreciated, I feel terrible about it for her, she was widowed when I was 6, the guy she then married a few years later was nice enough, he had been through the same thing after losing his wife but sadly this wasn't enough of a reason to keep them together and they seperated but stayed friends.
Years later whilst my mum was very ill she met someone who for the first few years gave her everything she wanted, sadly though throughout the last few years its become obvious that he was actually only out for one thing and as all that is gone and she simply can't help out anymore he isn't interested.

The shit thing is that my mum is the nicest person ever, she would help anyone and sadly that has come back and bitten her properly, I'm truelly gutted that she has been left in this position and huge debt knowing that there is actually fuck all I can do to help, I wish I could but I cant.

I am just gutted that I have to come in from work to see her so down, hopefully some advice on here regarding the divorce may help me get her in contact with the right people, it obviously won't bring in any money but it will give her the name back from someone who truelly loved her which will put a smile back on her face.

Thanks

I could go on all night about the things he has done, I have been fuming for years but I never thought it would get to this stage.

Promises after promises yet fuck all has appeared, ok I've borrowed a few quid off my mum through the years but I do my fair share to repay it or help out elsewhere.

Were talking a LOT of money so indeed yes there is no way that he could be let off that easily.

I'm a sensible person though (or I like to think I am) smacking the shit into someone makes you feel good for a day or 2 but its not going to change anything.

Thanks Nath.

I should of explained further, everything she has, cards, passport the lot needs changing.

I presume you would start by changing the name by Deedpoll then contacting the relevant people for changing personal information ? ie: passport office, banks etc.

Excuse my ignorance but its something I've never thought about.

Well thats a mild lie, as 90% of people think my name is Jon I had considered changing it

The name change on paperwork shouldn't be too much hassle. You get confirmation on the name change so maybe just enclosing a copy or the original and sending it off. Might be worth sending off a couple of copies to credit reference agencies as well to let them know its legit and not an ID theft happening.....

CAB should be able to help a lot more or try google as thats worth its weight in gold sometimes
