Default Working rear wiper for MOT?
My dads rear wiper on his Escort estate seems to have stopped working completly, while this isnt a big problem hes got his MOT soon and wants to know if it will pass with a non working rear wiper?

take the wiper arm off

cant fail it then

if it has one, it has to work

only front ones are needed for MOT...or it used to be like that, as some cars dont have a rear wiper

This is what i thought yeah.

And i suppose if the car doesnt have one then it cant fail can it probably whip it off then until he gets it fixed

Might have been years ago but doubt it, even if its fitted it doesn't have to work as rear wiper is not a testable (sp !) item.

You cant even fail a car for a split wiper blade let alone a rear one The nearest criteria you've got for failing a split wiper blade is that the wiper blade fails to clear the screen effectivly when used in conjunction with the washers.

The whole 'if its fitted its gotta work' is nothing more than a pub myth

The answer is "NO IT WONT FAIL ON A REAR WIPER BEING BROKEN. Unless its sticking up and liable to poke someone in the eye

Rear wiper's not part of a mot test if is there or not or even if its stopped half way up the window it don't make any difference,
