Default Ford Dealer GRRRRRRR

Just got this message off my best mate about his girlfriend......

Sam has just taken her car into Ford because it was making a few funny noises. They've told her she needs a new clutch for £750 and it's not covered under her warranty.

It's 18 months old and has done 22k miles, it seems a bit cheeky to say it's wear and tear.

What do you think?

I told him to fuck ford off and take it to somewhere like Nationwide and get a clutch fitted with genuine Ford parts to keep his warranty. What do you think?

the reason for the high cost is the dual mass flywheel which is a common fault on them. you wont get it done cheaper anywhere else either

normally ford will do this under warranty, go to another dealer and/or ring ford up direct and get them to sort it.

It's not unreasonable for a clutch to have had it in that mileage if not treated all that well, and garage has no idea whatsoever ot it's treatment.
Could have pulled away in 5th every morning for all they know.
Lot of money though, bit of a shitter.

i know someone who had the clutch and DMF done under warranty on a st170 which was the same sort of age and mileage. if you make a big enough stink and hammer the point that it is a common problem which loads of others have had done on warranty, they should give in.

what car is it for a start?? Any of the TDCI range suffer really badly from DMFW and clutch issues, a well known weak point. Should keep hassling them and maybe present a list of people who have had the same problem, as it is a known weak point. Might get you somwhere
