Default Car wont start

not mine but my dads, hes got a escort estate(zetec)

Its been sat since friday on the drive, but yesterday we had to move it a few feet forward, it started fine then, but this morning he wanted to go out in it and it just wont start, it turns over fine though.

Tried giving it some throttle aswell, but it just wont fire up.

Got our mechanic mate coming round later but just thought id ask here

Could be a multitude of things gone wrong with it, know the zetec's were very prone to sticky valves making them difficult to start when cold.
Check the simple things first like plenty of fuel and has it got spark !

Try letting it turn over with no throttle and then apply a little bit of throttle. If its still don`t start, just take the plugs out quickly and see what they are like.

When you started it the previous morning, how long did the car run for before you switched it off? A few seconds?

yeah literally 10-20 seconds, only had to move the car one foot so we could get another car onto our drive.

But anyhow, i just did what was said above, turned over THEN push the throttle and after about 5seconds it started

It wasnt too forth coming though, it sounded like it didnt want to start at all, but now its started it sounds fine and theres no smoke at all.

No prob fella.

Could just need taken for a good run as if its only been fired up for a few seconds recently the choke/fast idle will still have been on and maybe flooded the plugs a bit, a good run should help though, failing that a new set of plugs aint expensive and could be worth fitting anyway !
