I think thats worth checking... I would bet the warranty is out the window once modifications take place and is fine otherwise, nothing wrong with that.

Know of 2 clutches that were done under warranty as well

i know that when i done mine i was told that it was actually a problem with the flywheels.

I know that the synchros were a warranty job on the VII's & VIII's

Marco you simply can't sell something without a warranty these days, the product has to be fit for purpose ...... You can argue all you like but unless the customer signs a disclaimer or modifys the product the the whole product carries a warranty but they could limit mileage..

We only get the IX prior to the FQ tweaking and they can take a lot. One of my friends who has tuned my VII has 250kw at the wheels, dyno'd which is the absolute upper limit from just exhaust and remap. It hasnt pleased some of the tuners here but the results speak for themselves.

I prefer the 5 speed box which has proven stronger and the preferred choice for racing with here over the 6. Not sure on IX seats in the UK but the VIII has tighter, nicer ones from factory.

If it is an MR version, all the better. Much better choice than a cossie for a daily, you won't regret it. I have had my VII for nearly 2 years now and it hasnt skipped a beat despite tracking it, motorkhanas, hill runs, 50,000kms.

I love my FQ320 it is a great fun car that can take shed loads of abuse, the clutch is the only non warrantyied item i was told when i got mine new,

I am looking into the clutch issue though, also i was told by a dealer that unless the modified part contributes to the problem then it is still under warranty if that makes sense,

Great cars glad i own one, always loved Escos's but the Evo is modern strong and handles out the box

Mike

Oh the FQ400 was said to be a terrible package poorly specced for the job, as others have said far cheaper to by a less powered car and tune it

Just read Marco's warranty bit, definately wrong, at least here anyway.

Transmission and Drive Train is 5 years.

Bodywork is 10 years.

Best warranty offered here

Ben,

As good as the Evo's are, i personally would

Get your map trimmed, for abit more boost, and get the cold start and idle sorted.
Get a working rev counter and a ecu monitor.
Bucket seat and harness.

And drive it for the rest of next year, small issue's might/will pop up, but it should give you many trouble free trackdays.

Mitsubishi replaced the gearbox on my VIII MR340 after 11000miles hard use. The box went without warning whilst on the Nurburgring.

**edited to expand on the above**

Over all I've been delighted with my car, I bought it with 286 miles on the clock and after bedding in the brakes & runing it in I started to prepair it for the Nurburgring.
A set of AP's upfront and some sticky tyres and it was good to go.
On the cars first trip to the ring it arrived having done a tad under 2000miles the next 4days or so saw over 1000miles covered around the ring 80ish laps. All without any issues(pads needed changing but that was to be expected)

I've done another two trips to the ring in the car since then and a good few trackdays.

The original clutch started to slip at 9000miles and was replaced.
The box then went at 11000miles. Mitsubish replaced the clutch & flywheel(at cost price) whilst the box was being replaced.

Gatecrasher

i know Ben.

thing is,i love the cossies and the trackdays.

i just don't think i can sell up just to be reliable for track days.

there is no love towards the evos for me,very good cars etc...but i have always had rs cars since i could drive, and to change now just to have a reliable car for track etc...i'm just not 100% with it.

i would want an evo to be near the power or feel like my car on track, wonder if it will be more reliable if at that power etc...

it does piss me off and others laugh everytime something goes wrong with the cossie, the neighbours think i'm mad and my mates do aswell spending the amount i have on it,just spending the money for gearbox, i got leathered by my mates.

is getting rid of the cossie for the evo really worth it?

decisions decisions....

Dave you would definitely be more reliable at the same power as your escort!!!!

Every time you drive an evo you love them more because they never cease to amaze you how capable they are!!!!! Buy one!

Hi Jonny,
You too and looking forward to being on track "against" you .

You didn't expand on the reason why it let go previously, so I just knew that it had let go big style from what you had said . Apologies for the assumption. Hopefully your little faux pas hasn't caused any damage that results in a similar failure , and you get to enjoy the car for a little bit longer this time .

If you go up against Euan, I'm sure we'll get to hear who leathered who !

Yes mate definitley!!!!

I'm the same i love RS' and the scene but having an evo sat there is similar to a cossie except when you want to use it it starts and gets you home... Make sure you buy one without AYC though
