hi Sib

i have ready your posts about your cossie and please dont take this the wrong way , i know you spent a few quid on your saff and to be honest it wasn't the best saff to start off with

it had wrong diffs 3.92 in the front and 3.62 in the rear which killed 4 of your gearboxes including the test "mullit box" (brunt out center Viscous Coupling ) this would diss hearten anyboby

fair play to you after finding what the problem was ..... you had the diffs fully overhauled........ this time with the correct ratios your car was back to former glory so after spending alot of money on the transmission the engine failed at another track day and this was the final straw that broke the camels back

Karl did say to you not to drive the car on track untill he had alook at it

as you told him that it was overfueling ???? he did say to you to drop it back to him ?

you then broke it to recouperate some of the money that you spent on it

I know cossies can be a pain in the ass trust me i have had my 3dr since 1992 in that time i have spent ££££££££on the suspension trail errror on bilstein grp a stuff.............blowing up engines rear diffs gearboxes i know they are not cheap to fix when they break

I still wont give up the fossil cossie they still look the bollox a time less classic

evry good car has it's place in history on the race track

cheers marco

well the post is about his car
Really? I must have misread the title of the thread then..... as I thought it was about Evo VIIIs and IXs, not specifically about Gatecrasher's escos. There's at least 5 people replying on this thread who have owned cossies who have destroyed gearboxes including myself and people are still advocating - escos is the better car.... yeah right

Be a boring old world if we all liked the same thing

That makes me laugh for drivers who need a hand, if it helps you go round a track faster then fucking great, this is not some macho thing were we all try to prove that we can tame an antiquated knackered old car (well some anyway)

They are driver aids, even Ferraris have them you trying to tell me that they are for crap drivers also

This thread keeps on getting better

I'm going to need a bigger boat

And most Ferraris need driving aids as they generally are owned by well-heeled hooorah henrys who couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dead dogs arse ..... Hence why the F40 is the greatest of all time.... Pure racer on the road, driver and car thats it, no computers to stop you binning it if you are crap

Ben

this is just my opinion, i would rather have a escort cosworth and a
evo, than buy a escort and spend the cost of evo on it.

i have seen evos go round the track and not fall to pieces +
i have seen them rally and they are just as exiting as a escort cosworth

iwould never spend 30 grand on a evo just to see it drop 15 grand
in 2 years

a evo 5 has just as much fun factor as a evo 6-7-8 imo and i have had
them and can't honestly tell the differance on the road.

my 7 is a sexy car and i think having gone to the mlr's last trackday
of the year seem to be getting more popular, there was more 7's there
than the last 2 years before.

oh and i prefer the 5 speed box than the 6 speed
the 5 speed in a evo 7 or 8 260 shifts cogs miles better than a 6 speed.
and if i had to choose again i would get a bog standard 8-260 and
spend on that than get a more expensive model.
most people that i speak to who don't know evos see a 8-260 as
just a nice car as a 8-360, its the tag evo, they just know that means
fast

totally agree

Something being better is purely subjective in the context of my opinion the fact that some rice rocket will cream my cossie going around donno is of no interest to me in the slightest the fact it will reliably get you from A-B everytime has f&*k all to do with my decision I have an Audi A6 for that!

the car I want is an Escort Cosworth not too hard to understand surely, I know a bloke who loves his MG Midget when I see him I don't say "oh your car is really pants mate, look at my Escort its fab" I have the decency to appreciate both him and his car for what it is and fair play to him is what I say!!!

Cosworths are classics and the fact they are mentioned in the same breath as an Evo 8/9 is testimony to the shear brilliance of their ability

and believe it or not not everybody wants a car for bragging rights down the pub they have it because they love it, simple
