Default Screen capturing??help!!

Im trying to capture an image from an MPG I have on my PC. What im doing is pausing the MPG (using Windows Media Player), doing an alt/prtscr and trying to paste it into paintshop, BUT, when im pasting it, all i get is the media player but no image. Is there any other way of doing this ??

Cheers
Chris

Try just pressing the print screen button instead of alt/printscreen.

its because the video card writes data straight to the monitor and doesnt go via the application (ive forgotten the techy term for this)

there are programs out there that allow you to do it, but i dunno whre to look

as Jim said above!!

Rich - makes no difference mate. It captures the app but not the image in the app (app being WMP). I think its something to do with the frame rate being so quick on an MPEG....

Ive managed to download an AVI --> MPEG converter and you can actaully capture stills on it, so im all ok now!!

If you use a recent Windows Media Player it dont work, but if you do print screen on a shonky old one like version 1 or summat it works perfect, i keep a coulde of old versions on my PC for jus that reason

overlay, thats what its called... lol

since the video never gets passed to the application, you cant capture it with printscreen

most new video cards have built in mpeg decoders and so completely bypass the app and simply overlay the video straight to the screen
