question on smoking in the work place???

Just watching Eastenders and noticed Dot Cotton smoking in her house....well she's at work on set so what loop hole do they use to get around that? Just curious....not after writing to points of view

This was in the paper the other day, was a reason for it - similar to actors on stage smoking for a role I believe
