no he wont hand feed, hes still very wary... bordering on scared of me... tends to cower away when he see's me approaching his viv.

its often hard to get him out as he goes scatty and tries to get away at all costs, so i tend to leave him to calm down before trying again... i suppose ive just got to be stubborn and persevere with it... thinking along the lines of the more i handle him the more relaxed about it he should get.

i think hes eaten a locust it jumped into his water bowl and was paddling around, phone rang then when i came back it was gone

this was the viv in the early stages of setting up

separated the top and bottom of the viv using some sealed wood and used the top half so as not to spook the dragon by putting it into such a large space at a young age.

started to fasten some bits of wood together (after cleaning them will Milton sterilising solution) and decorate it with a bit of foliage to brighten the place up and give dragon a bit of seclusion.

in the above photo's you can see a large ceramic baking tray, which doubles up as a swimming/bathing pool... also the colours match the viv nicely, lol.

vivarium from a distance, not long been misted hence the steamy windows.

The ceramic heater lamp is suspended above the viv on a bracket i made, so the hot ceramic bulb and metal shade dont come into contact with the woodwork. The heater is controlled by a Habistat dimming thermostat, which i turn up to 32 deg C in the morning and turn down to 24 deg C at night.

In the pic below, at the top you can see a layer of mesh, i put this in like this to stop dragon being able to come into contact with the ceramic heating bulb, to prevent burn injuries. Lying on the mesh at the front is a 3' Reptiglow 2.0 light tube and at the rear is a 3' Reptiglow 10.0 light tube to give him enough UVB to be healthy, both of which are on a timer so i cant forget to turn them on/off.

Close up pic

yeah do it... be nice to compare

i forgot to say i will be removing the dividing partition and opening the viv up soon to give dragon a bit more space, and hopefully a larger water pool, maybe with some kind of water feature in... we'll see how extravagent i feel at the time.

just realised i have the exact same viv as you, only i havent sectioned mine off and my dragon seems perfectly happy, and always jumping from branch to branch..

where does your dragon sleep as mine likes to sleep in the top left corner ontop of the plastic foliage, im not sure if this is odd or not?

Mine sleeps at the top right hidden behind the foliage usually, must just feel nice and safe up there, they are arboreal so they are meant to live in tree's etc off the ground, which makes him sleeping at the top make perfect sense.

nice looking dragon you got there

any pics of the whole viv?

weighed my dragon last night and it's now up to 72g, not bad considering he was down at deaths door in March when he stopped eating and only weighed 14g.

yeah i think he's doing alright, he is full of himself now, beginning to stand up for himself instead of scurrying away think he will be even better when his vivarium is extended by removing the partition

he's still only eating worms, think he's just a funny eater, tried chopped veg, locusts with and without back legs etc, but he still loves mealworms, but as long as he's eating something im not worrying too much

Next month i think...

Need to get a thermostat to control the background heater that will be going in the lower half of the viv, another light unit for the lower half and some sliding glass as the viv was supplied with a one piece lower glass which is awkward for access, then a larger water bowl will need to be sourced, would actually like to have a little water fall setup in his viv too, will crack on when i get a chance and a bit spare cash.

The little guys appetite has picked up and he now loves eating large and extra large locusts

Here he is, posing for the camera in his basking spot.

I think he is actually a he now he's grown on a bit the spikes on his neck are looking very much male.

He looks great mate, Is he friendly?

My mate had one and he was quite happy out of the viv cruising around the lounge. I looked after him once when my mate was on holiday and he knew the brown paper bag from the petshop with his food in. I walked through the front door and he was up at the glass, spotted it straight away. Just used to let him out and he'd happily sit there and eat. Amazing just looking into their eyes, they look so intelligent.

It's also quite funny watching them with a female, the males properly go for it

i know what you mean about looking into their eyes and the seeming intelligent.

he's not too friendly, by that i dont mean he's nasty/aggressive hes just very wary of people, he seems to get spooked easily. i suppose he should have been held more from being young, but whenever i try to get him out he runs away and panics, so its like a catch 22 situation, scare him to get him used to coming out so he wont be scared anymre
