I had all four out in hospital and to be honest it wasn't really an issue slight bit of yellowing around my jaw and I wasn't eating toffee's or salt and vinegar crisps for a couple of weeks but apart from that tiptop!

the worst bit was having a supository pain killer inserted by the nurse, she came in pulled the curtain around pulled on the gloves looked at my face and said "if its any consellation I don't want to do this anymore than you want it"

I was supposed to have one out as it decided to come through in my early 20's and still not properly out as there isn't enough room for it!

The dentist was supposed to have referred me, but obviously never did

I had all 4 taken out in one go at hospital and it really isnt that bad. Afterwards the pain really wasnt that bad at all. I could touch the sides of my face and there wasnt any pain. I had to wait in bed for a while because one socket bled a bit but after I ate something (a pot of jelly!) I was allowed home.

Tell you what going under general anaesthetic is bloody odd!! The nice man said there was going to be a scratch on the back of my hand, I had an oxygen mask over my face and the next thing I knew was this nurse shaking me awake and saying my name really loudly in me ear! I remember thinking "Oh ffs woman shut up! I'm awake! I'm awake!"

My brother had his done at the dentists and he was only sedated (that's all they're allowed to do I think). He was out of it (all wibbly) but in more pain than I was after mine.

The worst bit for me was trying to keep food out of the holes that are left and feeling the stitches in my mouth

There will be some swelling but so long as they sort you out good pain killers you should be OK. You might feel abit groggy for a day or two after the GA but it affects different people in different ways.

I had 2 out in the chair under local and the other 2 by GA in hospital, give me the GA every time...

Erm, I had 2 out and my fucking god did it hurt after !

I assumed I was just popping in for a filling and it turned out I needed them out so I said fuck it, just do it ! They would not come out at all, she was levering off my chin to get one out, I could feel it breaking but it wouldn't come out, they used some sort of chisel to work round the edge of it and after about 30 mins the first one was out.

I nearly said bollocks to having the other out but I didn't fancy going through all that again, typically the other one was the same and I had to go through the agony all again, I ended up with a massive fat lip and a dodgy jaw for a while.

Personally I really think she had no idea what she was doing as others have told me theirs came out easy and was near enough painless !

It was without doubt one of the most painful and uncomfortable things I have ever experienced, in future I'll remember to look after my teeth better !

I hope that hasn't scared you off too much

it wasn't the pulling out of the tooth that hurt - it was the EIGHT injections the dentist jabbed me and checked if i could still feel anything and i could - seven more times and he said that an elephant would be asleep by now and i could still feel it a little bit but just wanted to get on with it.

keep the area cold with an ice pack to reduce swelling and eat ice cream afterwards and it'll help

Keeping it clean after is the worst.

If you don't you'll get infected. That really sucks.

I had mine done at the dentist, they are a bugger to get out, I think I was in for 45 minutes. Didn't really feel any different to having normal teeth out after to be honest, suppose it depends how much damage they do to the gums and jawbone !!

Complete disaster

Mine were done at the dentist ( 2 teeth 3 years ago, last 2 5 months ago).
The last 2 was a big problem. The had to cut a piece of bone out of my jaw, to take the tooth completely out

I was in the chair for 70 minutes
The time after was really fooking hurting me. Been sick for a week

Sounds Familiar

Jemma, I'm sure were just unlucky, or just wimps I haven't seen any females complaining about it on this thread.

I was working away and needed a toof sorting out so i went to a dentist who quoted me silly figures to do the work

I left it a few days but the pain was that bad i ended up going to an emergency dentist and told him to rip the f00ker out..pronto.

Nightmare... my toof snaped and after half hour he told me my time was up and i would have to come back tomorrow for another half hour session. I left it how it was and its now grown over

I had one out in the chair, and to be fair I have a very very good dentist - hurt but not excessively.

I had one taken out in the chair and 2 under general in hospital.

Hospital was much nicer, went in for 8am and was the last one to go in, out by 11am and dad took me home at 1pm. Flew to Oz 2 days later so no big deal really.

Nothing to worry about
