i have just had a visit from the cops to look at my fiesta van , apparently the DVLA have told them to check all the numbers tally as it was written off in FEB (cat c) all it needed was a wing but they are convinced it is ringed onto another shell , the dvla also wanted to know where my old escort van is which i broke up last year and is still registered to me

is it normal to send the cops round , wouldn't a normal VIC check do ?

mine is completely genuine though , its obvious it has had a new wing as its the only panel that's not full of rust holes !!!

If your car was writren of as a cat c it would have needed a vic (vehicle identity check) before it went back on the road, cant understand why they would send the police around to check it out.

the cops did have a DVLA headed list of things to look at , they were only here 10 mins , quick look at the van and went again ??

The DVLA are so bloody disoraganised it is unreal. I sold a Vectra GSi over a year ago and now they`re saying they never recived the V5 and they have been writing to my previous address since although i`ve updated everything since! And this ain`t the first time its happend either...

My mate had the same thing with his merc van only needed a wing but the police wanted the check it wasn't a different van that was using the I.D.of the damaged one.
