The old TT's , My brother in laws brother has one, and some one I work with had one - they are fun cars, deffinatly shift when you want them to, got a fair amout of tuning potential I believe, bit of a girly looking car though.
However the new ones, look a lot more aggresive, went out in 1 the other day, seats are pukka comfy, and they dont hang about either!
Personally I wouldn't want one but each to their own.

very luxurious.....cabins ace
not terrifically quick but nice to drive and pretty reliable
check for faults with the dials (very common) and the usual crash damage and service history etc

Cheers guys, Im looking at a balck 03 with red leather all the toys etc. Been remapped to 280bhp so shoudlnt hang about either. Yeah ive heard about those dials. Its a free recall now though so thats not a problem. I love the mk2s but there way out of my budget and i've heard there more underpowered than the mk1s.
Tbh i think the roadsters are a bit on the gay side but ive never really seen the coupe as a girly car imo.
Also servicing etc would it be similar pricing to the golfs etc?

we hired this out on a recent trip to Italy/France:
interior was exceptional. seats and driving position were good. was fairly quick relatively speaking. we got 2 big suitcase, a couple of bags 2 big jackets and umbrella and an american football ( ) in the boot. got loads of attention in it even in st tropez. i'd say the handling was pretty good especially for a front wheel drive car. ! brakes were ok, though I cooked them on one apline pass lol. was fairly confortable considering how many miles we did in it.
spent the first day trying to get it sideways everywhere as I thought it had the 4wd system only to realise it was actually fwd!!
very nice car but for the money they are new i'd go for something else

In all seriousness, they are pretty decent cars really. Feel solid to drive and handle well. Its just the image thing really, other than that, you cant really fault them in my opinion.
