mapping question
ok dont want to get into a major about whos best, but history is
new turbo fitted and has now blown!!!!!!!!!!!
apparently intake hose not fitted correctly creating a gap which has ingested something thru turbo unit
would the vehicle A been able to have been mapped with this apparent fault?
B run correctly and maitain proper boost ,car was set up to run to around 340bhp not a ford by the way
would like some opinions from people in the know please
many thanks

well imo ,yes the car COULD have been mapped with the fault ,though you would have hoped the mapper would have found this in the set up/ pre checks before hand if he was worth his money......
if it was a boost leak, the car could have run correctly ,but the turbo would have needed to create more boost than was reaching the plenum to overcome the loss, and this on its own could cause damage, if the plenum pressure wss at the top of the turbo safe working limit ,then the turbo itself would have been working outside these limits,
if it was a inlet/air filter problem, yes again it would have run fine.

re reading the post ,sounds like a air filter/turbo hose want fitted correctly ,in this case it would have run fine, but as happened it will suck all kinds in to the compressor
if it was there when the mapper worked on it, he needs shooting

if the car had pulled somthing through the turbo then it must have been the inlet pipe that was not fitted correctly, this could be easily missed if it wasn't making any noise.
When you take your car for mapping the mapper expects the car to be ready to be mapped, unless you state otherwise. I would expect the mapper to check the basics, but how far should he go???
