Get a self-certification sick note for 7 days, then get your Doctor to give you one.

Your employer has no right to sack you if your 'sickness' is legitimate, which in your case it is. Plus, by law he has to pay you SSP after 3 days.

you need to get realigned by a chiropractor - any other 'treatment' is a waste of time and money in my experience.

a good chiro will have you sorted very quickly. look for one in yellow pages, or check with the official register.

I have to disagree with you there young man.

Get referred by your doctor to an NHS physio asap. If necessary go to A+E and they'll do it for you.

I had sciatica for a LONG time, it got a bit better with acupuncture, physio, chiropractors, witch doctors or whatever but didn't go away until I had a caudal epidural and even then it took a few weeks to settle. I STILL get pain occassionaly but not to the extent where I couldn't walk [touch my wood].

It's fucking ruined my golf swing

GET IT SORTED.

Both Foreigne and Paddy are right as it goes it really depends on where your pain is being caused.

My pain was caused by my disc pushing on the nerve down my left leg so a short few sessions of traction (twice a week for 6 weeks) sorted no more pain after living with it for 18 months!

And the other treatment if for when your disc colappses onto the nerve thats what the injection does basicly reinflates the disc i know thats not exactly right but you get the idea.

You need a mri to know exactly whats wrong really but a good physio should be able to help you. I got annoyed with seeing my doctor about my back and during one really bad week i went to see a physio and see was great i crawled in and walked out! Cost me Ł38 which for the relief from pain was worth every penny.

Find one local and go see them asap trust me its worth it.

if your boss isn't going to give you time off sick then you might be better off not working there

i broke my back in 2 places about 16 years ago and it's got to the point where it hurts a lot when it hurts, but if i do nothing for a day it's good again
what you need to first sort out is what caused the problem, then stop doing it and then get your back sorted

there are 3 sorts, the muscle tweaked which is the same as a sprain, the traped nerve which is a pain and the disc problems which really fuck you up

you need to know which one it is you have so if your doc can't help you go to a+e and get them to look at it for you, or at least get you booked in for someone to look at it for you

sitting in a cab for hours on end isn't really the best way to go about it and might be the root cause of all your problems in the first place

get it seen too or you might not be able to do the things you want to do for the rest of your life, my cousins got 5 steel plates in his back held together with screws and shit which have to be tweaked ever once in a while

i would go totally the other way, once you go to a chiropractor, you'll be back there all the time

sciatica is a list of Symptom and not what the problem is

btw i suffer every now and then

Got to agree here with this reply, i went through weeks of physio at the hospital and didnt make a blind bit of difference, mine used to be so bad that i could harldy move at all and would last usually for a few days at a time.

Moved house to a completely different area and was told about a lady that specializes in sports remedial massage, thought i would give it a try as nothing else seemed to be working !!

Un fucking real the difference she made to my back Had a few sessions and felt as good as new and now if i feel a twinge starting i go and see her and after half an hour its good as new again

Its not cured completely bet have been told this is something that will never be totally cured so just have to live with the pains i get from time to time, but ever since trying the massage thing its been a million times better and when it does flare up now its never been as bad as i used to get it before trying this !!!
