Actually looks quite good this - from the producers who did the remakes of Amityville Horror and the Texas Chainsaw films - all of which I thought were very well made and good films

Plus, I think Sean Bean could be pretty damn good in this - he just seems to have the right "manner" for it

I think from the trailer its backwards though.. the lad was the main and rutgher hauer the nutter.

If bean can do a half decent rendition of Rutger Hauer then fair play- but he empitimised evil in the original.

I don't get how you mean it's backwards tho - Sean Bean appears to be playing Hauer's character - the psycho hitcher who gets picked up and kills a bunch of people.... Been a long time since I seen the original mind.....

Doesn't surprise me tho - a lot of remakes are alight variations on the original theme - Texas Chainsaw was quite different in storyline to the original, but the basis was the same. Look at Assault on Precinct 13 - COMPLETELY different storyline to the original, but the basis was the same....

Then look at films like Wrong Turn etc - where it's nearly always the female lead thats left in it instead of the male..... Just seems to be "todays way" I think.....

Just checking US earlier this year, UK is miles behind gets release here in June

Pretty stupid being slow with a UK release these days especially after a US dvd release, DVD rips everywhere

Fraz - Yeah I've often thought how stupid it is to have different release dates for different countries for the same film, specially considering that "internet" (read, torrent ) releases come out everywhere on the same day and how many people have universal or region free DVD players anyway! With that in mind, I still don't see why we have region locked discs and players anyway! Whats the point?

techincally it's because they want to maximise their profits by releasing the film in different parts of the world at different times so that they can schedule releases without clashing with others that will steal their market share

Shame as I thought the Texas Chainsaw remake was a fantastic film, so was hoping this would be as good.... Wasn't tho Tho I do think if you have never seen or heard of the original then it would make a passable film - it's only cos we have all seen the original that we know it's better.....
