Mines the mark 3 box which is easier.
I undo the front inner TCA's, take out 4 bolts that hold my box on, take off the front and back mounting legs, pull the drive shafts out, remove the earth strap and clutch cable, then just lift it off the engine and drop to the floor.
Have done it in around 20 mins, but last time it took me 32 mins I must be getting old

Removing S2 box With engine staying put
Has it got ABS?
Stick it in the air put it on axel stands.
Remove exhaust
support the engine from underneath using a Jack or similar and please make sure its secure.
Undo TCA's/ARB mounts and remove the ARB from the car.
Remove all bits attached to Gearbox- Clutch cable, speedo cable, earth straps, starter motor, ABS sensors,
Remove all bolts from ABS unit (4 I think)
Remove drive shafts and ABS belts this will now leak oil on your drive assuming it has some in it.
Undo the 7 or 8 belhousing bolts
Undo cradle retaining bolts 2 at front, 2 at back and 1 at the side at the back- You may want to remove this from the box before dropping it off- if so remove the bellhouse retaing bolts last.
WITH A FRIEND if you're under the car slide the box of the engine.
They're quite heavey so get your friend to hold the clutch lever from above while you lower it from under neath and slide it on.
To re fit I would suggest putting the bare box in first and bolting it to the engine as its a bit of a struggle with the cradle on.
I reckon once you know what you're doing and u are confident you could change a box in a few hours.
