I've just done a transfer....

It took 8 working days from the moment I handed in all the paperwork to my local VRO. I got the new MOT's and tax disc on the 8th day after requesting to collect them instead letting them post it. I still dont have the new V5's and it was approved for transfer on the 8th March.

Just be careful that they (as in DVLA/VRO) dont want to do their 1 in 10 inspection because you MAY lose the number plate if the vehicle cant be inspected (takes 5 minutes and is just a check to make sure the VIN's all match up) . Or if you let the car go and they want to inspect it and the new owner says no to an inspection, then they get to keep the number.

As above, the local VRO use to do it there and then, but now they send the application all off to Swansea so it takes longer ..not sure why but I'm sure they have there reasons...

I hope that makes sense as I'm typing with my old mate Carling

Did a transfer in January, I got my MoT and Tax disc back almost by return of post, but it was a good 4+ weeks before I got the V5s back from Swansea.

My friends took 4 weeks, she had to go to a DVLA office to do the paperwork and then arrange an appointment to take the car to the inspection centre which took about 3 weeks to come through!

Good Luck!

Brother just done one and it only took 5 working days. That was done via the local dvla office too. I suppose it depends how busy they are.
