It depends on your max bid. Your sniper will bid up to your max bid within a few seconds as will someone elses. In those circumstances it's all down to who is the highest bidder

for arguments sake say both bids were the same, who wins?

im not really a fan of these snipe programs, as said above i like the 2 windows open and refresh one while watching the other one, always worked for me in the past.

but the sniper programs dont put a bid in until the last minute... thats the whole point of them isnt it

if they put a bid in straight way, all parties involved would just bid the price up in the usual way.

Well, all I do is wait untill the last 30seconds, then input the maximum I will pay for it, plus a couple pennies - for example, if the item is currently at Ł43 but I al willing to pay upto Ł65, I'll put in Ł65.33 or something.

1) if someone does try and outbit and puts in Ł65, I'll take presidence and win it for the sake of 33p.

2) if don't matter how quick you are, if someone is willing to pay more for it, then you won't win it. Thats my theory on it, so I just stick in the maximum I am willing to pay. Ebay will always proxy bid for you, so it doesn't jump up to the price you put in if the current price is lower. So I don't bother doing multiple bids. Stick in my max in the last 30secs, and then I know even if it goes over my max, I won't be able to bid anymore anyway, as I have reached the limit I am willing to pay. If someone outbids me, then it don't matter.....

I would think it would be the person who entered the bid through ebay who would win not one of the sniper programs

I wait till the last 45secs put a bid in Ł25 below my max then bid again my max bid and it normally works as they try to outbid me and i've bid again.

See, now that seems stupid to me.

1) Why not just enter the max bid? If someone isn't willing to pay as much as you, then it doesn't matter if they try and bid - you'll win anyway. If they are willing to pay more than you, it doesn't matter when and how many times you bid - you'll lose.

2) You are just bidding yourself up, costing you more! You enter say, Ł50 when you are willing to pay Ł75. The price might only be Ł33 after you bid Ł50 and are winning. You then bid again 20secs later, putting in Ł75, and immediately the price will jump to Ł50 - you could have had it for Ł33!!!!

1) The Auctions have a end time so if your bidding against somebody and the time runs out you win it for less than you were expecting rather than the other person getting desperate and pushing the price up and over your max.

2) You can't outbid yourself, if the amount is Ł33 and you put in Ł50 it will go to the previous person max bid say Ł35 then if you bid again Ł75 it will stay at Ł35 but if another person bids or uses a sniper program say it will bid Ł55 because I've put in Ł75 it will go to Ł60 and I'll get it for Ł15 less than my max bid.

I see it on my auctions from time to time where a person will bid then bid again because they might be away from the comp and the price doesn't go up its quite fustrating TBH because they will pay more but nobody bids to make the price go up.

Hmm - not in my expirience. If something is Ł33 and I put in Ł50, then think better of it later and put in Ł75, it immediately puts the price up to Ł50...

Heres some info taken from ebay.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/bid...hange_bid.html

How to Change a Bid

Raising your maximum bid
You can increase your maximum bid at any time before the end of the listing. To do this, click "Bid now" on the item page and place your new maximum bid. You can't place a lower maximum bid. See below for what to do if you want to lower or cancel your bid.

To check the maximum bids you've placed, sign in to My eBay. Scroll down and click "Bidding" on the left-hand side of the page. The next page shows details of all your bidding activity.

Why did my bid increase when I placed a new maximum bid?
If you are the current high bidder on an item with a reserve price and the reserve hasn't been met, the bid price will increase to the reserve amount when you place another bid that meets or exceeds the reserve amount.

Remember: the bid price will increase up to (but not exceeding) your maximum bid if other members bid against you. See Bidding on eBay to find out more.

Lowering your maximum bid
You can't lower your maximum bid. You may be able to retract your bid. However, a bid is a binding contract and members are only permitted to retract bids in very specific circumstances.

If you'd like to cancel a bid for any other reason than those given in the bid retraction form, please ask your seller to cancel it for you. If you'd like to withdraw from a purchase after the end of a listing, you should contact your seller and explain the situation.
It could be the auction has a reserve maybe.
