Default Diagnosis needed !!!!

Gents heres one for you

Clonking noise, escort cossie, front drivers side, made worse on cornering either direction, clonking, drive shaft ?

Just fitted a new diff, the guys never mentioned anything else was a miss ?

mines pretty bad mate, sounds like its about to let go, is there a knuckle joint in there somewhere ? thats what it sounds like, sorry am all new to cossies would appreciate suggestions !!

ok, is your arse made entirely of metal? those fabricated backsides can cause a hell of a problem.....especially at those detectors in airports

Here's one for ya.... Make sure the exhaust downpipe isn't anywhere near the transmission tunnel (ie touching it!!) Cos this makes an awful noise and is quite common!!! Mine only did it when turning left though!!

could be a knackered cv joint m8, more likely outer cv if noise is worst when cornering

bbigman2000,

More likely to be exhaust down pipe knocking against the short prop or bulkhead. When the fron diff was changed, they prob did not align the exhaust downpipe/system to give enough clearance......

If it is that then the fix is quite easy, loosen the 3 x turbo to downpipe bolts, move the downpipe to clear prop & b/head and re-tighten.

Check it first though!!! I thought all of the above, even changed my tca and engine mount before I found out what it really was!!!

Fair play, my exhaust side mount was fooked though!!

doug, thanks mate, I checked all that today, Its defo not that, its in the steering mate, I should have whipped the wheel off today but i was lazy and tired so thought id see if anyone could shed light on it, thanks doug

I will indeed bud, ah well atleast you got some nice new parts done haha, this is a distinct metal against metal noise, and you can feel it through the steering must be CV joint i think bud
