Its just that my alcon 6 paddle has started to slip after 6,000 miles ish.
My saph about 400 bhp with normal use and the odd bit of hooning around.
Is this normal?

I bet you're using the standard Ford cover . This is only rated to stage 1 power, so 6000miles is good considering .
The Alcon drive plate is listed on my website, Alvyn is getting confused with the cost of the standard cover (which isn't worth a wank ).
With 500bhp / 2wd and launching etc, I used to get 10k out of my FULL Alcon clutch. Switching to 4x4 and hydraulic arrangement, I get in excess of 15k....

i have an AP 6 paddle with ford cover on my car, works fine @ 450 BHP but dose slip if i launch hard more than 10 times with the anti lag on !!!
but with it off its fine, i would prob say that 450 is the limit of a ford cover and AP 6
not sure on mileage , done prob near 3k with only ALS abuse prob.....
going full AP and hydraulic clutch soon to be safe.....
i would say 6K is a bit soon really, get a full kit, skim the flywheel and fit a new cable. if you still have probs go hydraulic.....

NO I aint he asked can you buy the plate on it's own NOT THE COVER and standard cover can work WELL with the 6 plate and it gives a lighter pedal(for road use) so it's NOT THE ON/OFF FEELING that you get using the full set up!

Those that have no problems, it may be that yopu have the old Ford cover, which was made by AP Borg & Beck and was fine to 400bhp . Unfortunately in Ford's infinite cost-cutting wisdom, they switched supplier to some shonky Sachs arrangement, which is totally rubbish .
Alvyn,
You can buy the Alcon paddle on it's own, but it is certainley more than the oner you quoted, hence why I thought you were getting confused .

The following procedue MUST be followed to ensure longevity of clutch:
1. Brand new clutch cable fitted (as these stretch with age and so won't disengage the clutch fully, causing the clutch to drag and wear prematurely).
2. Flywheel surface ground (if not, it will have raised hot-spots on that will drag on the clutch and cause same issues as above).

i use a Helix,
over 6k miles old, and 450ish bhp.
a few easy launches, sprints and quite a few track days..
Did slip @ brunters for a day, but was due to quadrant/rachet playing up, and since made my own clutch arm/quadrant. And has been fine since.
Always fit a new/good cable heat wrapped, and new quadrant/rachet.
(best part of 2 hours max and £35),
Or fit a hydrolic conversion,
over 6k miles old, and 450ish bhp.
