I swoped my cossie (which wa my day to day driver) for my m3. Top cars. I have had it for nearly a year and a half and the only thing i have had to spend on it are servicing and back tyres! Great as a everyday car, fuel is around 20 mpg around town and 30+ on a long run.
If you need any more info, just ask!

i use mine as an everyday car and it doesnt really fit the role that well... lol
thirsty bastards thats for sure, and with the way it elivers it's pwer you really need to let it strech its legs to get the most out of it, and so anywhere in town you'll be wasting it, youd probably make quicker progress in a turbo derv with nice midrange torque.
i LOVE taking mine for a blast at weekends and getting to open her up a bit, but i when i'm stuck in a traffic jam i can't help thinking that there are much cheaper places to sit, plus it's depressing having all that potential in a car, and not getting to use it properly

My avus blue 95 ///m3 3.0ltr was a gorgous motor had the gt engine fitted, schnitzer cams, worked head, supersprint manifolds, full scorpion system with supersprint decat, custom mapped, gra a carbon fibre induction kit, put out around 326bhp..and the induction roar was awesome ....coilovers and 19"breyton visions...custom carbon fibre interior schnitzer carbon strutbraces front and rear, fully retrimmed interior and bmw rebuilt seats.......was absolutly mint..and i was turning into a bit of a cleanaholic id drive 10 miles and spend 3 days cleaning it ... never drove in the rain and never parked it anywhere was just always sat in the garage ..when i sold it the car had 26 layers of polish on it the bloke walked into the garage and said he'd buy it straightaway
...They are lovely cars that are very reliable and dont do that bad fuel wise 30mpg ish on a long run ....enjoy.....

Agreed.
Great words from someone with experience rather than guessing.

It now has 86k on it
Excluding modifying a few bits (exhaust, suspension etc) and maintenance items (in which I include batteries, tyres and brakes) it has needed :
• A front shaft.
• A front wheel bearing.
• New followers.
I had the M3 for 2.5 years and applying the same rules it had :
• Rear top mounts.
• Rear trailing arm bushes.
• Rear exhaust hangers.
• Small engine oil leak.
• Small power steering fluid leak.
• Heated mirror lenses (both).
• Vanos.
And then it snapped it cam needing around 8.5k (main stealer prices) to fix it - there are some photos on here of it.
The car had BMW warranty so it didn’t actually cost me but it would have killed me without it
Having said that I did really like the car (and was sad to see it go) but you would have needed deep pockets to run my particular example …
Perhaps I had a ‘bad’ one but you could never say it was a dog :
For reference (on its condition) I sold it in March 06 with 57K on the clock for 11K - to the first guy that viewed it
Would I have another ? Yes – but it would have to be cheap enough for me to take the risk of the big bills …
