Ryan.......
I looked at and tried them all before settling on a Quaife ATB...
The V.C is very good as std(They used a V.C in the 9" as well with no problems)but most of them are sloppy now so a rebuilt uprated one is a must...
The gripper plated diff is very good but is quite noisy in operation and being plated will wear and need regular rebuilds depending on how much/hard you use it...
The ATB i found to be excellent,it drives very hard out of bends etc without wanting to go sideways all the time and is quiet and maintenance free....The only problem with ATB diffs is if your car has a tendency to lift a wheel they will loose drive as they obviously lose grip to the wheel they are biasing the torque against,as my car is very taught it is not a problem for me.....
My car will be ready fairly soon so if you want to have a blast to see what they are like, give me a shout mate....

ohhh the pain.
engine is finalised so no need to go any further, not that i can go much further with it, unless i change the crank

suspension and brakes are finished.
wheels are finished.
shell is finished.
cooler/rad and engine bay parts all sorted.
its just a case of bolting it together

i have a Quaife ATB.....plus point is they are pretty bullet proof, downside for me is sometimes you can feel it working when you don't necessarily want it to (makes the rear end 'steer' ever so slightly)
obviously any of them are better than standard though!! you can also try mine any time you like
oh and i need another loom sometime soon

fairenough if thats what you want to do then ryan...wasnt trying to be funny but if you buy a 9 incher it will always be worth good money if you ever want to move it on
wonder why ford didnt use a 7.5" in the touring cars then

Euan, besides doing 180+ you must be very gentle on your transmission ? that or your one lucky bloke !
After seeing what a 550bhp saff done to a well specced 7.5" diff twice I'd go with a 9" if money allowed.
Ofcourse like most others on here though I'd probably risk using something a little cheaper and lay off the heavy abuse.

i would say i am pretty easy on it...
never use full throttle in first or second(not that it would grip anyway)
i have had two diff now both while the engine was running 400+ ATW.
both noisy but working fine.
have done 10k miles...
with a car better set up than mine (traction wise) i have no doubt that a standard set up wouldnt last long.
saves spending 2k on a box and another 1500 quid on a diff tho

yes that is depending on how the plates are set and the ramp angles
we normaly have them set progressive so one wheel spins quicker than the other when cornering thats what we call "road use"
they are noisey when they are set for "race" use they grind a bit when cornering
when you have them new and they are set for road use they are noisy at first untill the plates bed in and when it's bed in they are quite and you wouldn't know that you had a modded diff in there
i had my diff redone and it was noisy at first but now it's quite even when it's hot so i'm a happy man

ouch 3k lol
, but I suppose by the time you have fucked about changing millions of std diffs then its money well spent..... What sort of launching abuse can the 9" diffs take? What rear beam mods have to be done?
I'm still thinking Jag 10.5" diff.......... just a shame about the weight... wonder how much an alloy casing for one would be?
