just wondering if it was a big job to change the engine mounts on my escos plus whats the easiest and best way to do it. ive already got the bumper off and car is up on axle stands for other things been done.any help appreciated and is there any special tools required for the job?
Thanks Sean.
Thanks Sean.
Take the drive shafts out!! They catch the crossmember (especially the passenger side) and stop you from lifting the engine high enough to remove/replace the mounts. rest of it's a peice of piss to do, just remove what you need to get at the nuts and bolts (boost hoses etc)...
I would only change one side at once though and I seem to recall having to unbolt the drivers side mount off the block (or at least slacken it off).

on my Fiecos, i had to remove the engine mount alloy arms to fit them, as couldn't get the engine high enough to fit them.
but i would of thought would be alot easier to fit in a sierra 4x4 or escos, because of the extra room.
took me about 1 to 2 hours tops, with trying different ways of fittting them.

You could get away with the drivers side drive shaft in place as you can unbolt the mounting arm off that side easily, but the passenger side is a complete bitch to remove so to do it without removing the mounting arm on that side, remove the shaft so you can jack the engine up higher.

lifted engine up on the lifting lugs .. undid the subframe.. big bar and levered the 2 apart... removed old ones .. fitted mounts job done .. took about 45 mins in all.. both driveshafts left inplace..
I replaced my passenger side one as it was broken.
Because it was broken it made it easy to take out, didn't need much clearance.
The vibratech one wouldn't go back in through the same gap, so I undid the bolt through the middle of it and fitted it in parts - worked a treat

It is a pain in the arse on the escos! - Damo & DaveEscos suggested dropping the cross-member.
When I replaced mine I removed the mounting arms and on right side the oil filter & assembly to gain access to that arm (the 3 door & saff's dont have the larger oil filter assembly).
Good luck!

well looks like im taking the drive shafts out anyway as the cv boots have a rip in them
so hopefully have them removed to give a bit more play. looks like my holidays are gonna be busy
on a lighter note, all creative carbon splitter, hockey sticks, bonnet vents are fitted

well fitted the mounts, had already removed the drive shafts. the passenger side one just fell to bits so was easy to remove , as said new one wouldnt go in so took it to bits and it fitted a treat. the drivers was a different kettle of fish altogether, got engine up as far as poss and tried dropping the subframe but this was fouling on the inner cv joint so after ages of trying different things i ended up hacksawing through the old one then done the same as the other side and fitted it in parts. lot easier imo. pain in the arse as the brake pipes foul the rear bolts on the subframe so just bent the brackets slightly to undo the bolts.
