she was on def jam, she was dropped because they found rihanna, and thought she was more marketable, around the same time, her boyfreind nick cannon (off mtv's wild n out) dumped her, this was a good few months ago now.

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Christina Milian has been dropped by her record label.
The R&B singer reportedly angered Island Def Jam boss L.A. Reid by refusing to record 'S.O.S. (Rescue Me)' - which went on to be a huge hit for Milian's label mate Rihanna.
The track sold 115,000 copies in its debut week, while Milian's preferred track 'Say I' sold a meagre 50,000 units.
Milian's representative said: "Christina Milian and Island Def Jam have decided to end their relationship due to creative differences. This was a mutual decision."
The label are believed to blame Milian's boyfriend, and executive producer, Marcello (Dre) Valenzano for her refusal to record the track.
Island Def Jam has now signed Keyshia Cole as the 'Whatever U Want' singer's replacement.
The label has so far refused to comment on Milian's departure.

Producer Dre (of Cool & Dre), has spoken out about the rumors surrounding Christina Milian’s split from Def Jam, stating that his relationship with the singer had nothing to do with the parting.
> Dre addresses the issue on the remix to Chevy Ridin’ High, a track which features The Game, Fat Joe, Pusha T and Rick Ross and others.
“The New York Post wants to print lies about Christina Milian getting dropped from a record company and I had something to do with it,” he told MTV. “I had to address it. In a few days, there's gonna be a press release that's gonna shock everyone. She's got some really good shit going on the music side and movie side.”
“This guy from the Post knew Cool & Dre executive-produced the project [So Amazin’] and produced most of the album,” Dre continued. “Then he found out that after cannon dumped her, Christina started dating me. He found his angle for the story. He printed some shit that said I had something to do with her getting dropped, which is a complete lie.”
“My relationship with [Def Jam president] Jay-Z and [chairman] L.A. Reid is great. When that shit came out, dudes lost it. They called me up like, 'Dre, we have nothing to do with it.' They didn't want it to mess up our relationship.”
Launching his solo rap career, Dre will be releasing his debut set, The Trunk, in October. Keeping busy in the meantime however, Cool & Dre will be working on beats for albums by The Game, Young Jeezy and Nina Sky.

Less than a month after Christina Milian released her third studio CD, So Amazing, the higher ups at Def Jam said sorry boo, your numbers aren't that AMAZING and rather than pump tons of money into properly marketing you like we do Rihanna, we're just gonna drop your phony ass from the label.
RUMOURS ABOUT THIS
-Jay-Z was the one that made the decision becuase of Christina Milian's diss track too Beyonce

and this is what her publicist said to the media
R&B beauty CHRISTINA MILIAN has been dropped from her record label Island Def Jam, only a month after releasing her third album SO AMAZIN'.
The DIP IT LOW singer, 24, was reportedly dumped by the music label after poor album sales, according to the New York Daily News.
The disc sold 50,202 copies in the first week following its 16 May (06) release.
However, the Cuban-American star's publicist insists Milian and Def Jam "mutually" agreed to part.
Her publicist says, "Christina Milian and Island Def Jam have decided to end their relationship due to creative differences. This was a mutual decision." According to the Daily News, Milian upset label bosses when she declined to record SOS (RESCUE ME), which turned out to be a huge hit for teen singer RIHANNA.
everyone's saying she fooked up for turning down SOS. but the beat for 50 cent's in da club, produced by doctor dre, was offered to obie trice, who turned it down, then D12, who also turned it down. then 50 took it and made it into a smash hit. but dre didnt drop obie or D12 for turning the beat down, thats why there is more than meets the eye in the milian situation.
