I reckon the delay is to allow more HD Ready TV's (with lesser than 1920x1080 resolution) to sell before people click on to 1080i (Full HD) and BLu-ray.
Demand will fall for 'HD Ready' TV''s as everyone will want full 1920x1080 resolution.
A marketing ploy imo.

I recon sony want to sell some blue ray dvd players first before they launch the ps3, otherwise why would you pay the money for dvd player alone when you can have the sbest of both worlds with the ps3

just like the ps2 playing dvds, a dedicated dvd player (quality one! ) is much better for the job?

I will definitely be one of the first in the country to get my hands on one of these monster consoles. It appeals to me more often than not as not only is it a Games console it is a multimedia centre to name a few and the added bonus of the CELL RSX graphic process gives the console so much more credibility for the users to entertain themselves evermore so surreal.
