I just cleaned out my tropical tank, took me about 30 mins coz i left it a while

When i was putting the ornaments back in i found one of my fish on the floor i was about to flush it, but i saw its gill move just before i did, so i put it back in the tank, and it swam in circles a bit then its fine again, well apart from it being a bit paler than it should, and having blood coloured fins But it now seems fine!!!!

But im so confused, it thought 5 mins out of water and a fish would die whys it not dead

 

do you know if it was on the floor for the whole time?

If not you have super hero fish

 

may be it was not his time yet

 

It must have been, think I may have pulled it out with one of my ornaments when I picked up my bucket to empty it, he was just led there i feel so bad

I thought 2 of them had just died and been eaten by the other as i haven't cleaned them out for a while and the water was mancy

But then i found one of them god knows where the other went

 

i doubt he will make it kim but i could be wrong.put some stress coat in to help him,but if he is stressed and youve changed the tank water it wont used to it so the two together could kill it.

you should partial change water every 2 to 3 weeks to be safe.

 

what fish was he? a labyrinth fish can put up with it for a while. ie a siamese fighter or gourami

 

Not very reassuring to hear that you clearly either dont care for your fish or can't count! Poor fish

 

we had this with a gold fish, it was nearly dry when i put it back in the tank it moved when i was chucking it away but it survived, the silly sod kept jumpin out until i covered the top

 

NIL 7717 its been an hour he seems a lot better erm i dont even remember what he is I only bought them as i was having a few issues with my tank a whiel back and needed some hardy fish, and the shop reccomended these (whatever they are)

Fingers crossed he will be ok...i don't have anythign to help him though

how do you change the water then if you have no stress coat or anything?do you just put new tap water in untreated?

you dont know what the poor little fella is?he must feel so unloved by you now

oh so now they all look the same.thats nice aint it.i have 16 fish and can tell em apart.you just dont love em,chances are your water treatment should have a stress coat in it,it helps to relax the fish and replace oils lost through stress and rebiuld damaged tissue

 

the only thing good for fish is chips

oh god, this is my cumupence (sp) for nearly killing his fook buddy

 

My goldfish used to do this..even with a lid on he'd just get out through the little gap I left for air (as the tank was a bit condensation filled with the pump on)..I think he wanted to roll around covered in carpet fluff until I realised..

Kim when cleaning the water change no more than 25% put some drops of stress relief. If the water was murky and the filter is good put in some drops of Algae killer.
I did the same mistake (not letting my fish dry out on the floor LOL) changed too much of the water cause it was turning green and brown. I thought a whole new tank of water would solve it, Nope LOL.
Algae killer will do the trick.

At least he was ok when you put him back in let us know if he lasts

 

Pull him back out and leave him for 40 mins this time, If he dies you know they can survive 30 - 40 mins. If he lives just keep adding 10 mins each time til you find out.


Also with the pregnant/constipated one....pick it up and squeeze it really hard, if it poos everywhere it was constipated.

 

Fastmaul i think its coz its near my window to be honest, gonna try putting it somewhere else when i move houses soon

The water is just green constantly....but i dont wana kill the algae coz my algae eater likes it


pmsl @ Lou, ye it was pritty funny but MY i felt bad pmsl..hes ok tonight still a little pale, and bloodshot, but eating and swimming as for teh constipated one, hmmm well shes not looking too good, BUT she could be in teh process of giving birth i hope
