Default Cossie brakes on Fiesta.

How easy is it to put some front Cossie brakes (any which will fit under 15s) on a Fiesta Mk5? Do they go for big money or are they quite a cheap upgrade? what size discs are they? and is it a case of just bolting them up?

Cheers.

You want 4wd calipers and 2wd discs mate. They do go under 15's but it's like fag paper width between the caliper and rim - no stick on weights or anything in there. Bolt straight up, use braided hoses.

i used 4x4 stuff on the mk6

had to space the callipers about 6mm - this was done with 3 10mm washers on each bolt. does the trick lol

im not sure of the offset of 2wd discs but that may be why peeps suggest that, as then you wont need the spacers for the callipers but dont hold me to that.

with regard tot he braided lines, i used esc cossie ones, and i know that with the mk5 escorts the solid brake line has a male fitting into a female end on the rubber hose that goes to the calliper, but on the mk6 they are both male ends so i needed a male to male joiner and cant remember who i got em off on here but any nmotor factors should sell then if needed

Thanks for the replies so far!

The reason I ask is I'm going back down to 15s, now I don't know if it's worth just purchasing some Mondy V6 brakes, which are 280s and go on pretty easily.

Or I could swap a mate for some ST150 brakes, which are also 280 and should go on straight away.

Do the cossie calipers make *that* much of a difference?

yes lol

the piston is fucking huge compared to the std piss small one

also the increase in disc size is the main benfit

remember my mk6 i got off deano, well witht he hispec spacers and 280mm discs, the brakes were pretty good, but fuck me, when i changed to cossie 4x4 stuff the difference was huge even tho it still had a 280mm disc

what about 2wd calipers which a re 4 pots? don't they have a better braking power? over single piston 4x4 calipers then peeps?

only reason i ask is, i'm doing the cossie front brake conversion on my s1 with standard wheels and i'm using 4x4 calipers and 2wd discs. But i figured surely the 2wd calipers which have 4 pistons would make the braking alot more better, by spreading the braking effort across the pads, rather than 1 piston just pushing in the middle of the pad as on the 4x4 cosworths?

cheers

Apparently a bitch to fit on a fiesta mate.. not that i've tried..

I've always thought it was 4x4 on a fiesta, 2wd on an escort?

I used 4x4 calipers and 4x4 discs on mine. Carriers were spaced by 4mm. Fitted under standard 15" z-s rims without any problems. Awesome setup for the money, think I paid 150 quid all in.

Now who suggested this crazy conversion to ya? I thank you!!!

As you can see - it's well recommended, cheap, and SO easy to do.

Set of sticky tyres, good quality pads and Dot 4 or higher fluid and you're away!

You see, I've got 300mm brakes on there already, from the ST170.

Problem is, they're not going to fit under my 15s, so I need some decent stopping power that'll fit under them..

So I'm looking for some 4x4 calipers, and 2wd discs? and that's all I should need?

You sure you cant get 15's over them there? just saying because integra dc5's which use same brake as FRS can get 15" wheels on there if selected right. Most use Team dinamics pro comp 2s and they go over.

Just a thought if not already sorted rims.

Definatly Nash, the caliper needs shaving down, and tbh, I don't really wanna risk messing with that.

Also, you have the arse ache of the brakes cooling down.

Sure about the Teg having FRS brakes? FRS use's 325-330mm discs IIRC?

I mean new shape tegs[dc5 not dc2 like mine] import only use brembo calipers aswell. I know they just managed to get 15" on them but was a tight fit. Just a thought anyway, you should be able to sell ST170 brakes and still have cash left over after getting cossie ones though.

Just tried the 15s on the front brakes, NOPE, not happening.

I could probably shave away a bit of the caliper but is it really safe to do this?

Guy on Fiestaturbo machined FRS callipers under 15's

And he's very good at what he does.. just take the bare minimum off.
