Default Boost, pistons, fuel...

If a set of pistons are prone to melting at 14psi of boost on a T25 with a crappy interwarmer, would they still melt at 14psi with lower intake temps??

or say running less boost on a larger turbo with lower intake temps?

not going to make much difference tbh. The flaw is obv in the piston.

Dave,

Rover pistons are weak apparently, and will melt at 14psi hence the intake lower temp question

higher inlet temps lead to increased possibility of det, and less power due to less density.

It seems like your pistons can only take so much cylinder pressure, ie power. You can jiggle about how you make this power, but in the end you'll still be left with the same cylinder pressure's, or more correctly, work done on the piston.

your problem is the mangememnt lol

it can only fuel enough for 14psi max dangerously aswell, safer at 12psi

my mates went through this kept cracking number 3 piston even on fresh engine rebuilds etc

final engine build he had omex fitted and was the best mod ever to get rid of the crappy rover ecu

dont bother with these piggy back things either as its cheating death of teh engine, think it only lets you run more boost but doesnt give you fuel, as there is no adjustment for fuel anywhere on them

change teh mangement

hmmmm, so with a decent management and larger turbo, running say 18psi would be ok? (larger cooler too)

melting is temptreture...

so lowering detonation causing factors (like crap fuel, high charge temps) will help.

Backing out a little timing would help too.



If they crack then you have found the limit of the pistons - anything else is more a setup issue.

problem is the t16 engine has no adjustment, fixed fuel, fixed timing

not even an adjustment for co as its all ecu controlled

honestly change the management to something that can be adjusted and you wont go wrong

plus you can also go coilpack aswell if you havnt already got it

but its fairly easy to build a low comp engine aswell using rover parts if you can find them

not worth it mate honestly

my mate had bigger intercooler water injection everything bar mangement and still blew up to lack of fuel at 14psi

rover ecu are shit

but change them and there a totally different car
