They usually burn out the switch or the heater resistor next to the drivers headlamp (a thing with loads of coil windings in it).

If it's the resistor it will only work on speed 3. If it's the switch, it won't work at all.

sometimes melt the fusebox where the heater fuse go's in as well. try jiggling the fuse about or reach up the back of the dash and jiggle the multiplug on the back of the switch.

Not much mate. There is next to nothing to them. Just ring Ford and ask fr a Transit heater resistor and thell thenm the age of your van.

You will probably find the plug has corroded so you will have to cut the plug off and replace them with spade terminals. Make sure you get it right otherwise you;ll have the fan speeds all mixed up and the wiring for the slower speeds can't take the current for the higher speeds for a long time.

M8 i got an N plate transit and theses things can go for a pastime

I'm sure there no more than Ł15 they reduce the voltage i think so you get the 3 speeds on the blower
thats why normally when they go the fastest speed is fine as im sure thats the full 12 v

Yes they can fail quite often sometimes. It just depends on wether you can put up with the blower on full speed all the time when you need it or not.
