Default Air Injectors, is a live map required?

I’m looking for a bit of advice, have just bought a setup from a friend it’s all supplied & setup by Ahmed and has only been on his car about 4 months.

It consists of a live map L6 ECU with air injector board, Twin style air injectors (injectors replaced by Ahmed 4 months ago) Light blue injectors, 12 position incar adjustable boost controller.

Now this lot was all mapped on my friends car by Ahmed and was producing 400+ BHP on his 400 Harvey engine with T38 turbo.

Now my question is can i transfer this little lot on to my car and run it safely using the adjustable boost control to ensure it doesn’t boost past a safe level? I will get it setup early next year when the cars back on the road from the winter break but want to sell my current setup to help fund this new kit first.

My current spec is T34 stage 3 with Grp A head gasket.

Also can I buy an off the shelf chip when using air injectors or is it live map time? I dont want to go silly on power just a nice 350 – 360 BHP.

Thanks

John

errr no.

the chip is driving 400's, you have 803's.

the map is for a gt40, late on boost, you have a t34, early on boost.

you'd probably find there is no fuel for when you're boosting at 1 bar

also, i'd recommend a live map when using air injetors etc anyway, as there is a feature on the ecu that needs turning on for the air injectors to work.

Thanks for the reply Mike,

I would have all the kit fitted so the lightblues would be on the car with the matched ECU fitted. But see what your saying about the early boost & fuel.

ah, didnt realise you have the injectors too

aha, T38! i'd still go for a map before running it with any such boost.

is your compression ratio the same? theres other things like ignition advance etc to take into account, and believe it or not, differences in ecu looms! i found on 2 cars that the loom on one was crap, and when the ecu / engine was used in another car, the map had to be altered to make the car run right, though this could be total bollocks

I have his Pectal loom also Mike

But see what your saying, i wouldnt be giving it any beans and would keep the boost right down. Also have a secs monitor and incar boost gauge to keep an eye on things.

My engine internals are standard and his will have been lower compression im sure.

i wouldnt risk it to be honest..

i would think that the igntion map might be different for his engine to yours.

its easy really, get it done once and get it done properly

yes andy old engine and now my old engine was lower CR and also had alot of headwork, and had cams aswell, where as yours is standard so would perform totally different to your chops.

get it setup if you wish to run the airs

dizzlyess can be done with any ECU, or do you mean run a coilpack?

2 very different things, but often associated as the same thing

If so you need anh an MSD\SECS board or a RB labs board i think.

to run a cam trigger phase sensor you need a sensor extention lead to extended from the original place if you havent already go one.

to run a coilpack yes you will need an add on loom, i know do 2 different types, depending on what the customer wants.

Cheers
