Default Rocker Gasket Q

My cam cover gasket looks like it's leaking from the front inlet corner near the half moon.

I used hylomar on the ends of the half moon as per the manual when I fitted it, so this isn't the problem.

Obviously I'm going to have to change the gasket, so:

Do folk rate the cometic gaskets? Do these do away with the half-moons?

Or should I just stick another paper job on?

Oh, and where's cheap for cometics?

Cheers!

Neil.

the thing i found with the Cometic gaskets, on the rocker gasket, the bit where you put the sealer, it does not fit properly, you have to cut the lug of to make it fit , then it does not stay in place.

gen ford one for me.

Cheers lads

Dunno what do do now LOL.

I've had problems with mine leaking from there before, and wonder if my cam cover isn't quite straight...

What are the cometics made from? i.e. are they thicker than the ford ones so more likely to take up any gaps?

Neil.

the cometic ones are made of alloy with foam either side.

they are supposed to be the best out there.

Neil......

Is there some oil down the front of your engine as well ?,a common problem on cossies is that the cam seals leak slightly and the oil flings out onto the corners of your rocker cover and makes it look like it is leaking all the time......Cam seals should make a big difference...

Don`t bother with a cometic rocker gasket the standard ford one works better in this location....

Yeah there's a small bit on the front, but the rocker gasket is the highest point where I can see oil, so I thought it would be the rocker gasket.

I wonder if I should wait till the winter and do the cam seals, belt etc. I could replace all the front seals then...

I have a leak from either the front cover or the front crank seal as well, so I could do em all at the same time
