Default Value this RS500 pics on page 3

Before anyone starts this is not a for sale post it's more of a how much to pay post.

It's a bit of a weird one...

Moonstone RS500 which was damaged in 1992 and was reshelled with a brand new shell and converted to 4x4 at the same time. Thing is when it was converted to 4x4 all the 2wd RS500 parts were replaced with 4x4 Cosworth bits, even the intercooler, plenum etc

Outwardly the car looks like a very clean 500 with genuine front bumper and rear spoilers, the body is dent free and the paint is good the RS500 splitter is missing off the front bumper.

Interior trim is near mint, dash is not cracked no cig burns.

Engine has recently been built and balanced with forged cosworth 7.2:1 pistons and a mildly ported head injectors are grey it's still on a T3 turbo.

All running gear and brakes are standard 4x4.

It's had 3 owners.. the dealer, the first keeper and my mate and has done a genuine 77k.

The car drives like a new one and memories of my old 4x4 3dr are making me want to buy it.

See what i mean about being a weird one!

Price guide please.....

Thats what I;d say. Maybe 1k above the going rate for a 3 door of the same spec.

It is a really strange one right enough! I would put it around the £10k mark as mentioned it has lost its identity a bit with the engine being removed! it is still a 500 though so hard to say!

just trying to guage what peoples thoughts are kev, i'm well out of touch with the selling prices of cossies except sapphires which i know are 3k!
The car sounds a bit of a mishmash but in reality it's an exceptionally nice thing.

Kev...thats all its worth mate.....its got NOTHING goin for it...ok i payed way over for a Saff but it has all the right parts and in bits it would make a profit...this 3dr would be a loser at over 6k..and thats reality.

It must be valued as a bad 500 though and not a good 3 door! I think average 500's are £14k so must be worth around the £10k mark.

Nae sure when I will get down to you Kev will call tomorrow again mate!

i would say no more than 4k tbh, i would have to agree with phil, just what has it got going for it, its now neither the original 3dr, or the 4wd sierra ?

all its really worth it what you would get in bits, value it as what you would want it for martin, its not an investment at all, if its just fr a laugh, then to get rid, its still 4k.

Mark no disrespect mate but thats a load of cobblers if its 500 log book then the id and shell are worth that alone ! .

And Phillis re _ read the post its missing the splitter ! it has 500 spec bumper and spoiler in which case is worth £500 a piece on any day of the week !

I had upto 6k in my head reading the 1st post.

Are you buying it in bits or as a complete car.

Bits are always going to be more - same as if you went to Fords to buy all the bits for a std 1.4 focus it would cost you over 32k

yes it would be , to the guy who owns it, but if your buying it to eventually take it to bits then you want the profit, not giving it to the owner in the first place. in bits it may make 6k, at a push, not really anything to rave about in std parts, and the time it would take to return you outlay also has to be taken into account, i your thinking, complete car, all work done to it, run it for a good while then you would pay him the 6k, to sve yoyu having to put it right, but i doubt if you bought it, a) it would be up to your standard, b) it would stay at that standard without throwing a wedge at it

stick with what youve got - too many projects spoil the broth

im still sticking to what i said, thr id isnt really worth that much doug, would you buy just an id for a std 3dr to make in a 500 ? you would be found out faster than spadge with a replica - worth no more than a std 3dr, if its a oe factory shell, all complete oe, then worth a good investment

TBH Martin if the trim is minty mint then you can ask what you want nowadays !

Shell + id £3500-£4000
Engine box £2500-£3000
Trim anything upto £2000 complete
Spoiler £500 plus
Front bumper £500 plus
Lower rear spoiler on condition upto £150
then there is all the other shit that goes with it so if broke its over £10'000 easy .

i agrre with some of the parts prices but the dash, maybe a one off if you get that, it wont happen with a que of people waiting for it, nor with the tailgate.

at the end of the day, martin if he buys it will pay what he wants to pay and not a penny more,

i,m actually confused as to why you would want it anyway martin for anything other than a breaker..it will be so slow you would be in danger of falling asleep at the wheel

like me with my 3door..was just about to break it as i had customers for the first lot of parts.... then it got a repreive at the last minute....i,m just going to stick it away as a nostalgia thing.... cant see me really wanting to drive it much lost my interest in cossies now...its only done 150 miles since 2001

then would you just pay out, in the hoping of getting you rmoney back at then end of your time with it ? or are you not bothered ? if so you pay what you think then, i know what i would/have payed, there are alot of dreamers out there when it comes to cosworth prices, you only have to look at a lot of the traders that are about, many parts will hold v good money - RS 500 bumpers for instance, complete will mke , like doug says £500 everytime they sell, there are alot of variables, the relevance is what you want to do with it

its that much of a 'bitsa' it needs breaking for its reprieve. unless you wanted to cherish it as a nice one of car that fulfils your needs, some how i dont believe the latter suits you sir !

Mark no disrespect mate but thats a load of cobblers if its 500 log book then the id and shell are worth that alone ! .

And Phillis re _ read the post its missing the splitter ! it has 500 spec bumper and spoiler in which case is worth £500 a piece on any day of the week !

Regards Doug .
i reckon the engine has got 2.5k value too and how much is a near mint interior worth?
TBH Martin if the trim is minty mint then you can ask what you want nowadays !

Shell + id £3500-£4000
Engine box £2500-£3000
Trim anything upto £2000 complete
Spoiler £500 plus
Front bumper £500 plus
Lower rear spoiler on condition upto £150
then there is all the other shit that goes with it so if broke its over £10'000 easy .

Regards Doug .

doug, im not with you on that at all
Sorry Mark I stand corrected ill edit engine all ancrillarys i.e loom etc ready to fit and run ,
But I would stand by everything else IMO

5-6 years ago 500 spoilers front bumpers were fetching a Grand a piece !

all its really worth it what you would get in bits, value it as what you would want it for martin, its not an investment at all, if its just fr a laugh, then to get rid, its still 4k.
there is no way the guy will take 4k for it... it would be worth much more than that in bits!

why would a modified std 3dr shell be worth £4000 with a non genuine id doug ? it has to have been modded to take the 4wd , its £1500 - £2000 at the best,

not true.... i would like it a cheap as poss but don't want to rip the guy off as i have know him for years.
Do you know how much he wants for it, surely, if he's a mate, he won't be trying to rip you off either

If his price is above what you are prepared to pay, then clearly, you need to get him drunk and do a deal then, or let it go by.

Reading the previous posts, it sounds to me as though it's a case of what you are prepared to pay for it, such wild differences in prices 3K to 10K suggest it doesn't really have a price imo.

Quick Reply: Value this RS500 pics on page 3
