As you know Rob i suffer from then, not as bad now as they were when i first moved to Surrey.

I have rescue remedy which helps me, just 4 drops on the tounge, tastes like alcohol LOL

I also taken valerian before to calm me down found that made me sleep better.

Have a look on some herbal remedy websites, I know St John's Wort is really good too.

You muppet - do you ever listen?!

It takes 2 to 3 months to build it up. At Ł10 a month, how are you not taking it? You have had firsthand testimony of it actually making a huge difference, and didn't give it the required time.

If you do nothing else, then just do that, and give it a chance..

MTV USA had a show where they lived the life of various groups of people and one show was about something like this. They sent them all to therapists and at the end of the show they were all sorted and no longer on any medication

Just give it a shot - you have absolutely nothing to lose, but you have to persevere with it for a minimum of three months, and not look for the magic cure.

St Johns FPMSL

If alcohol helps you,use it...far worse treatments beleive ME!

...if you panic xanax is the best for that kinda thing..its a private job over here..so costs but is fantastic...BUT be warned its highly addictive hence why i say alcohol is safer IMO.

Yeah, but maybe your feeling is real then Phil, what with all the imaginary haters you've got waiting round every corner

Are you realistically suggesting that someone use alcohol to control something?

If you are, and it's not much of a surprise considering you're a serial drunk and possible borderline alcoholic, then any further input you have on this subject must immediately be rendered worthless, simply by the giving out of such dangerous and ridiculous advice.

Beta blockers are indeed good for "stage fright" type panic..BUT you have to be very careful if you are an asthma sufferer.

Pon you obviously have no clue and i find your banter here totally inappropiate but i wont expect you to stop strangely enuff

Inappropriate? Pipe the fuck down!

What do you think advising someone to control a condition with alcohol is? Good well thought out medical advice?

You haven't the first idea what you're talking about.......... clearly.

What do you actually class as a panic attack? I know it may be hard to describe in words sort of thing, but for those of us that dont ever seem to panic or be anxious its a difficult concept to understand. I hope no one feels offended by me asking

There are many very effective anti anxalitic drugs available. Councelling is also a big help.

However, don't get caught up in the you need therapy - drugs only mask it type claims. Drugs affect people in differnt ways. Anxiety and Depression are complex subjects. It's becoming more and more evident that it is caused by slight chemical imbalances in the brain. Modern drugs are not happy pills - they target the receptors that control the brains natutal chemical secreation. They are almost like unblocking a partially blocked drain, making it work as it should again.

A good GP is also very important. Some specialise in certain areas, so it's worth finding out what these areas are.

It's good to talk - talk talk talk. If people around you and close to you are aware of any issues you may have, it suddenly becomes a lot easier to deal with things

Effectively its a MASSIVE over reaction from your body to a situation, in some ways its kind of similar to a phobia in that respect.

A mate of mine had them really bad about 10 years ago.

In his case it was stress that brought them on in the first place, he was working as a consultant flying all over europe, lots of hours, some fairly heavy socialising (not excessive drink, just up long hours), as far as he was concerned he had no problems at all, didnt really feel stressed particularly, then one day he was sat on plane waiting to take off, and he just suddenly felt like he was about to have a heart attack, he wasnt actually scared of flying, did it all the time, but just so happens that was when the first panic attack happened, he suffered badly with them then, and the worst thing of course is that they are a bit self fullfilling, from what i gather half the time that people have panic attacks its cause they are sat there worrying that they are going to get a panic attack and that itself brings it on.

In his case a change of lifestyle sorted it out, he took some time off work, slowed down his pace of life, essentially learned to relax more, and that sorted it for him, but sadly as is often the issue with mental health, different people suffer with the same problem for different reasons and hence will find a different cure works for them, best advice anyone can give you really is to go to your GP, as he will know more about you and your history and be in a better position to help.

Certainly TOTALLY ignore Phil's advice to cure it with drinking, but sounds like you already have enough sense to realise thats NOT the way to deal with it anyway.

Pon...get out of here...me telling someone to use alcohol...yep if it helps but obviously not to the degree you are an alcoholic...many many people who public speak take a nip of whiskey to calm the nerves..its fine.

Alcohol makes it worse IMO Yeah when your pissed you forget all about it etc But when i have a hangover my panic attacks are worse.

My attacks were brought on by the stress on my old job back up North, then i moved away from home and started a new job, which the doctor said i did too much all at once.

I have been to see a counciller, and must admit it did help.

..to add you take valium style treatment and you are far more out of it..but you can still legally drive on em ...

Take xanax etc to control the panic with counciling..if severe..xanax WORKS but it renders you useless for 4 hours but its better than feeling like shit!

..i find a bit of alcohol at night helps me get thru it...i had all treatment goin..i am now down to the bare minimum required for a life I not had an easy time mate..but i wont complain what happens happens only YOU can deal with it.

If any one wants a chat PM me,i have alot experience of this shit..unfortunately...
