you'd think so chip but the page failed to work properly as I was bidding more right at the end.

The bids that beat me where both 1 second from the end - sniped?

Personally if its something i particuarly want or need i just enter a good price for it days in advance and then never have a probem, you never get sniped if you are paying the full value of something normally IME but i cant claim to be any sort of ebay expert.

Did it go for more or less than you were prepared to pay for it?

Sniping sites are just a con, if you put in what your willing to pay to start with then it doesn't matter either way

<--- real tears

Atlhough obvioulsy with bidding on ebay you can get some numpty bidding it up against you which doesnt happen with the sniping as they cant find out what you max bid is by getting a mate to bid up an cancel etc.

But like i said if its something important enough to be bothered about losing it, i just bang in a decent amount, i only piss around trying to get a last minute deal if its something i dont really need and am just looking for a bargain on.

Give him an "underlivered item" strike then! Neg the fuck out of him on his feedback and then claim it never arrived even tho you paid for it.....

well, that is if you want shitty about it, even tho it's your fault and he is totally within his rights to file a non-paying bidder strike of course

Sniping is the only serious way to bid.

Why push the price up throughout the auction?

Bid your maximum, right at the end. If it goes over your maximum, who cares. You wouldn't have paid that anyway!

So what's the point in sniper? You bid what you bid regardless, if 20 people use snipe the highest bidder still wins, what difference does it make whether it's at the start or end, if you bid what you are prepared to go to it makes no difference

Sometimes you get an item slightly cheaper than you were prepared to pay when you otherwise wouldnt have, thats the only benefit.

Because it stops the bloke who you've just outbid from putting in another bid!

But if he put his maximum bid into ebay in the first place it doesnt, the last bid ALWAYS goes to the person bidding with ebay autobid and NOT to the sniper.

Yes, but if he's bid Ł20 and you bid Ł25 two days before the end he's got two days to increase his bid.

7 seconds before the end pretty much removes that opportunity!

Unless he has bid a higher amount with ebay autobid.

If you are prepared to pay 20 quid and im prepared to pay 21, im going to win the auction every time if i use ebay autobid.

If you piss around sniping at the last minute and something doesnt go to plan (especially if you do it manually like Alex tried to do, lol) then you lose the bid sometimes.

Which is why I leave it to a sniper

A good example is when I bought my cossie block and pistons off Ebay. I sniped but far too early. Just over a minute to the end.

I was the high bidder but the person I was bidding against got a chance to bid again which meant I had to bid again

Those few seconds cost me Ł70

Yugoslavian guy called Miroslav.
You pay him and he will shoot the highest bidder through his bedroom window from a tree in the street a few moments before the end of the auction.
