There's always one that has to piss take instead of giving an informative answer to the questions I have asked for help in this thread.

Just what you need after day 135 in Iraq

Cliff, if that was directed at me, then what more of a constructive answer could you ever expect than what I gave in my previous replies. 7 years of RST ownership and an active interest in it all has led me to know that 7x16" is as far as you can go on an RST before you really start to destroy the handling. That's my 100% concrete opinion, take it or leave it, and is no different to what I said BEFORE my light-hearted humour.

17x 8 isnt a problem, mine have a 40mm offset and with 235 rubber the car drives and handle's fine. Like Ryan says its all in the set up

With ET40 Andys did require some slight mods the the rear transverse arm, IIRC.

Anything lower than this and a re designed rear component will be required.

The only correct way of fitting big wheels to a S1 is to do away with your arches, and use the body kit as an arch extension to cover the extra width and to give you greater clearance on suspension travel, ( which was why FMC designed the kit in the first place, not to make it look good!!)

Its how it was done to the Datapost S1, that ran 16" 8j wheels on front and 7 - 7.5j on rear ( changed according to track conditions)
My Rs16i touring car has the arches rolled, plus had an extra few mm made through stretching what was left of the arch. The split rims it should run are 15"x7.5j fronts and 15"x6j rears.

i have spoken to tommy feild about what size wheels to use as i have both 16" and 17"

he said with the mef set up that i have (same as dave) it will handle just as well on the larger wheels

my arches will be cut right back as scott has said above but tommy is unaware of this
