depends what you want to do on the track.
if you want to drift, yes, as although its harder to spin the wheels with a welded diff, its far easier to control the car mid drift and hold the ass out.
TBH, tho ive never tried out on a track, ive driven loads of welded diff cars on the road, and TBH yes, even normal track work i reckon itd be better than an open diff, if you changed your driving style to suit.
Most oval/banger racers have welded diffs.
