Ok, all the above will work as per normal except the following.

You will LOSE:
Boost valve duty cycle.

But you will gain:
Lambda correction %
Injection phasing position.
Idle valve duty cycle %...

And the ability to:
Reset The P8 properly.

Drive the following items at will:
DIS Cyl 1 and 4
DIS Cyl 2 and 3
Injectors
Fuel Pump
Idle valve
Boost Valve.

Be aware your P8 needs to be modified internally to allow this data to pass through to the connectors. This can be done here for £35.

The software for L8 and P8 datastreaming can be added to our old chips for £50 including delivery back to you next day. All new chips will already be thus equipped as std.

how will the boost work stu, will there now be no overboost facility in the chip , ie the escos lectron valve will work like a amal valve which will just open at a pre determined level...?

Sorry mate, you missunderstand my poor explanation.

The ability to monitor and datalog the boost valve in the RP Labs monitor will be lost. Your chip will function EXACTLY as it always did before.

does the interface come from the ecu (ie internal to the car) or does it go onto the loom and out to under the bonnet on a escos? would you have to splce into it it at the ecu end of the loom if you wanted it internal to the car withou running more cabled thorugh the bulk head?

Stu is on holiday, as are RP Labs.

There should be little requirment for the laptop. Just enough space to install the software, and then any disk space left used to datalog. Windows 98 at a minimum I believe, but we should wait for confirmation from Stu.

A general comment....

Best make sure you get a PC/laptop with a built in RS232 serial port .

Unfortunately, nearly all new laptops now dont have them as standard.

Not all PC hardware is compatiable with most software.

JanDK if you have a 9 pin serial port on your laptop, which you most probably will if it is over 5 years old, then you have the correct thing

the converter that i talk about is because my new laptop, and most new laptops tese days, do not have the serial port as most devices these days connect in other ways (bluetooth, usb, etc)

hmmm,

forgot about this, looking at the collins powerchip monitor, it does make this option quite cheap in comparison IF you already have access to a laptop,

in reality, i'd be best sending my complete ecu (chip installed) to have the mods done at msd, and buy the software and cable,

£ 35 ecu mod
£ 50 chip mod
£ 25 cable
£ 150 software
+ £ free laptop

= cheaper than the powerchips monitor

a quick q regarding the software security side....

would I have control over what the software is installed on, as in authenticate a passkey on a web server or email address, that allows me to change what laptop i run it on, as i will more than likely need it on multilpe machines, but only active on 1 at any one time, how fast/easy is it to swap licence keys fom one machine to another, and are there any limits to how many time you can swap it over..?

Yes, both utilise the same pins.

Incidentally, we can now drive the coils with our standard closed loop weber software as well if your ever interested...

so if i went to an aftermarket rev counter say, and i needed the room in the ecu for other boards i could remove the secs driver and set up the aftermarket tacho to read correctly by reading half the pulses from one side of the coilpack?

Hi,
Aftremarket will work with our driver you have now, again just set it to "DIS"

But yes, for examples sake; If you wanted to, you could remove and sell your driver and we could enable the distless option in your software whilst we were upgrading your softare to serial datastream output.
