Default Migraine sufferer's

what do you take for it?

Im not talking about bad headaches im talking about proper full on migraine, flashing in your eyes, sickness etc, as thats what i get from time to time and its the worst thing in the fucking world, you dont know what to do with yourself

Anyway got these tablets ages ago from the docs, "imigran 50" but the fucking useless, i mean ok i might take them slightly to late to work sometimes but they dont seem to do nothing, dont even stop me from being sick, is it just because there only 50mg and not very strong? maybe i can get some more that are stronger or something completly different that works for you?

It always happens at work and end up coming home losing money aswell

50mg means nothing.

50mg of some stuff will kill an elephant in seconds

what does your GP say?

I used to get them, usually when I've not had enough sleep and it catches up on me, not much you can do apart from sleep I never take anything for them, but as I said, hardly get them

I suffer from real bad migraine mate. and i've had imigrain(sp).

But they are useless.

If found the only thing if you catch it quick enough is Migra-Leave, plenty of water and a dark room!

I used to take Imigran, they were useless.

I now take Naramig 2.5mg and all I can say is..... they are feckin' brilliant!

I also take Sanomigran 0.5 to try and prevent migraines.

Both on prescription.

The Migraleave are very good by all accounts, both my mother and gf find them to be the only thing that helps. You get a pink one to take as the first sign of one and then a yellow one for during (think thats the right way around). They are fairly expensive but if it was me i would rather pay out than suffer

I get them very rarely, but when i get them christ! Suffer a kind of 'hangover' from them too... I get them if i drive a long time at night...espcially on a motorway with the lights of cars going in the opposite direction flashing through the barrier!!!!

I just go to bed in the dark under the covers....

I make these at woprk. If 50mg imigran doesnt work then try the 100mg's. Prescription only I believe bvut they work a treat. Its what I use ! Also work a blinder on hangovers

Would suggest Naramig if you can get it but I think it may be USA only

They have been available in UK for last 12 months or so as I started on them when they first came out.

Doctors are reluctant to prescribe them though, because they are something like Ł15 a tablet.

Pretty much the same here. Not unusuall to have three in a week, though i've not had one for a couple of months. I usually take 'Nurofen Migraleve', they seem to be ok if i take them soon enough. If possible i try to go to sleep if i feel one coming on. It's not so much the headache, but the frustration from the blurred vision and the nausia that gets me.

I've tried to monitor my diet, and other factors like my working environments etc, but i see no patterns as to what causes them

That's what I get, it's called Cluster Migraines, I could sometimes go 3 or 4 months before they appeared, but lately, it's more like 3 or 4 weeks.

Also, I get what they call "aura migraine" usually before a migraine starts. The aura involves losing part of your vision and seeing bright zigzags like this.....

Most of my migraines start during the night, so I don't get the aura warning to take a Naramig before the headache kicks in. If I get the aura migraine during the day though, taking a Naramig stops the ensuing migraine that would follow it.

I've found out that stress and certain foods cause mine, but having had migraines nearly everyday for the past month and after a trip to my GP I've also found out that a 'mechanical' reason can cause them and in my case this is due to a dodgy shoulder I am having physio for.
