It's where you look at the Industry sector and analyise something about it, clues in the name.

Since you are in the West Midlands it's probably something like which ones need help the most.

Why do you need to know?

Yeah that's pretty normal. Bascially it's to determin and estimate the effect his business plan should have within the sector. Either because the plan proposes to sell to it or compete within it.

So if your business plan is to sell say lemonade to kids you need to analyise if kids actually want/need it and if other people are already selling a competative product.

Where's he studying?

I would imagine they're looking for financial information [past, present and future] on whatever the Industry is his assignments about, also any news clippings or relevant articles from associated trade press.

They just want proof of where he gets the information from for the assignment if it's supposed to go in the appendix, but surely it was all explained by his lecturer Or can be if he go's back and asks

Not really because those would just be interpretations of journalists opinions. That said some of the factual information they present may have some relevance.

There's usually loads of analysis reports available to students for this sort of thing.

I'd recomend he speaks to his lecturer about the sort of information he needs to reference and then goes to a labrary AIA and find out if they have anything for him to use.
