clio 172 cup?

Re: clio 172 cup?
Handles like a go-cart! Superb..... but have a tendancy to fail MOT's due to the rear brakes not having enough effiencency probs down to the lack of ABS.
Get the normal 172.... you have all the toys and comfort and it only takes 0.2 secs longer to 60.
Or go for a 182 with cup pack as they are becoming cheaper due to the Clio 197 which is due out later this year.

Built badly like all French cars and you really don't want to crash one as they disintergrate. Mate brought one for his missus and he rated it well above his Impreza for sheer fun and thrills

Quite quick and decent handling, with a style similar to the old 205 pugs, ie the back is loose.
With a proper driver they can be great giant killers on a tight track, faster than Focus RS, tho not as planted or built as well.
182 with cup packs is the one to go for, has Climate, cruise, HIDs, Recaros optional (standard seats are awful) etc
EDIT: slow reply, yeah build leaves a lot to be desiered and dealers are renowned for being useless c***'s
CUPs are harder to insure

Had my full fat 172 just over 6 months now, GREAT CAR
My cars a 53 plate on 50k, i've done the last 15k and its been totally faultless
Revvy engine, fun to drive, cheap to run, 30mpg + easily
I'd deff suggest a full fat over a cup model

And the build quality is not actually that bad at all tbh, thw tweeter grills have a habbit of working loose, and rallting a bit, but thats a 2 sec job to fix, but other then that i can honestly say my car is rattle free, and everything works fine as it should
Much better build quality in my clio then my old seat leon or peugeot 206
Although having said that, give it a few years and im sure it will start shaking itself to bits being french and all

My best mate used to have one, awesome little car, got to drive it round Bedford in its final 202BHP (headwork, cams and the usual mods) stripped out state. Felt a little under-powered when used to a turbo but mega rapid, awesome handling little car. Used to put up a far better fight when standard to my RS than any other 172 or 182 I've ever come across, would defo go for the CUP, or Trophy!

Have u driven both a cup and a full fat 172 mate ???
REALLY REALL REALLY would suggest you drive them both back to back before you make a decision
What will u be using it for???
Daily drive, or purly a weekend/track/fun car ???

Awesome cars, my mate has a cup with 200bhp+ with induction kit/chip/exhaust, v quick and if Im caught in the wrong gear in my 270bhp S3 I can be made to look v silly. Cheap to run and fast, Id love one but the facelift blue models are still holding too much money IMO

My friend Ade has a Cup and it did indeed handle very well. Engine picks up nicely over 5500rpm but they do look a little too 'cute' for my liking. A Focus RS has more of a look to it but maybe its best to be a bit more inconspicuous when plod is about?
