Cosworth Nitrous Query (chip)
I've been asked to fit a kit to a mates rwd Cosworh, I have no problem with doing it but there is a few tings I would like to check with people already running nitrous on a yb.
We haven't yet fitted nitrous onto a YB at my work yet so I thought it would be easier to get some answers off here.
I have seen the kits fitted before and the injector has been fitted in the Samco just before the throttle butterfly, after looking at my engine I noticed the throttle body is drilled in the top section for the Idle Control,
Would the holes cause a disturbance in the spray as it would end up being aimed in that direction ? I'm guessing not but just want to be sure.
Besides that I cant see there being any problems, if anyone has any pics they fancy sticking up then that might give me a few ideas.
Thanks

"from factory" holes or "someone and their black and decker" type holes?
pics would help?

Just the Man,
Sorry not drilled, very bad description
Just had a quick look at my tb on my engine and noticed the factory drilled holes for the idle control valve
I'll try and take a pic although camera is crap
Are you running driect port on yours then TIB ? proper job of that last block you had

Right, the fogger will be fine going into the samco but try and fit it into the top of the pipe,
the elbow thats after your TB has a divide in it and if you position the fogger into the top of the samco it will mean you get an even amount of nos going into the front and rear ports,
its not very detrimental but every bit helps,
also... the shorter you can make the nos/fuel pipes that go from the pulsiods to the fogger the better
what are you doing about bottle pressure?
mine is just a wet fogger kit

Dont panic mate, I only use WON kits,
I have heard smal amounts can be gained from correct angle of the fogger, I usually slightly turn it so it allows the fuel and nitrous to bounce off something rather than spray straight in.
I have seen that the plenums on yb's aren't great so I'll make sure I plat around with the angles etc..
Thanks TiB

You only have two choices really mate, in that samco, or direct port, so i wouldnt worry too much about the holes as there isnt anything you can do about it really.
Make sure you (as i know you will but im mentioning in case others reading this dont know) angle the injector so that it "corkscrews" the fuel/nitrous mix down the inlet rather than pointing it straight.
I personally would mount it slightly further away from the TB, even though you will lose a few bhp due to phase change it will give a more even distribution which is more important as you can always claw that few bhp back with a bigger jet if you want anyway!
For larger amounts (i would change over after 150bhp), direct port is a better option simply cause it reduces fuel dropout, but then you get other issues like reversion which can lead to dropout anyway, particuarly at lower rpm, so its a bit 6 of one and half a dozen of the other!

What bhp are you after & are you using a Controller, is it just for a quick burst on the road. If so you will be happy with what you are doing. It is however very inefficient for sustained use on the throttle, pressure drop after say 12s on the throttle will probably half your Power.

Rod, I wouldn't of thought the guy is going to want to use much more than 100, its running a maximiser as that is what I'm going to fit today but he mentioned doing the other parts whilst I was there.
Its only going to be setup for some fun so it will be on safe jetting, If he fancies leaning it off then that is upto him as I'm not going to be responsible for it going bang
Thanks Chip for the reply, I'll maybe get some pics of the installation once it is done, and my escort whilst I'm there too as its now near enough ready for paint
Thanks again to all

nitrous oxide pics
Here are the pics of the wizzard of noz kit fitted to my rwd cossy by nitrous solutions in braintree Essex. At the moment i am running 70bhp jets but will change back to 50bhp. Have had no problems with either jets but would recomend 50bhp jets to be on the safe side thats why i am changing back, This is with a minimax digital controller and is progresive. it runs seperatley from the ecu and works on the throttle. when the throttle pedel is flat down to the floor the nitrous kicks in. You can programe the nitrous to come in from 2 seconds to 9 seconds. The blue pipe in the picture is from the bottle. hope this helps

Only use mine on the strip so dont get chance to leave it on for 12 long secs

Thanks for the pics.
Mounted the solenoids there too, just on not such a bufty bracket
Hid the maximiser in the glove box which worled out alright

Rich, that looks fine, i wouldnt do anything different to that, other than possibly mount the injector an inch or two closer to the IC, frankly it makes a refreshing change to see pictures from one of the companies that actually know what they are doing with nitrous!
There are SO many bad instalations out there, and there is no excuse for it really cause its such a simple thing to get the basics right like not having 3 foot long delivery pipes etc, but companies still do it!
But nitrous solutions do have a very good name indeed anyway.
