when t= 2

x(displacement) = 13.1


since speed = distance/time

and the distance and time are 13.1 and 2 respectably

then speed (velocity) = 13.1/2

velocity = 6.55

I think that may be right, but.... i think its a case of differentiating the first term, i really cant remmeber what to do with natural logs or e's, thats the way its supposed to be done i think

might get a pen and pad out

 

Go with the above or tell them it has nothing to do with anything in the real world

got V as 11.79, gonna find the acceleration now

Hey people, yep its to do with my National deploma in mechanical engineering, i was fine untill this year thing is work paid megga money for me to do this course i seem to be fine with everything else like the science but just cannot get my head around the maths at all.

 

just basic A level physics aren't they?
And, yeah, why is the first question the hardest!

Just get an a level maths text book and you'll have differentiation and integration sussed out in no tme - Differentiation by parts is quite tricky to remeber, but not too difficult!

 

Bollocks. I used to really enjoy, and be really good at, doing this stuff - especially so the mechanics Maths. That was only around ten years ago.

Partial Fractions

Okay, here goes......

7x+6/(x-2)(x+3) = A/((x-2) +B/(x+3)

Mutliply it out so that you end up with:

7x+6 = A(x+3) + B(x-2)

Then if x=2

20 = 5A, so A = 4

Then if x=3

-15 = -5B, so B = 3

Therefore:

7x+6/(x-2)(x+3) = 4/(x-2) + 3/(x+3) expressed as a partial fraction.

9 years since I've done that, and I still enjoyed it - what a geek!

 

Thats pretty good, I only did A level maths 3 years ago and its all gone already. All I can remember is that I used to know how to do that 3 years of just history has rotted the mathematical part of my brain, I can barely count to ten now.

lol do you all really wana know?? i shall send up a few more pages of what i have got if anyone can scan the working out in too it would be a great help ive had these got knows how long, lets say each sheet is a week so that makes 14 sheets, 14 weeks and i have attempted some of these questions 14 times and each week got them wrong i wouldnt be too botherd but work paid for this course and i really dont wana loose my job!
