Every time u tighten a bolt, it stretches - that is how it exerts pressure on what it's clamping. U can only stretch it so far, before u pass it's elastic limit, and it becomes a sloppier than a Chorlton st hooker.

If ARP bolts are rated at 190,000 psi then I would have thought that re-using them would be no problem, it's the pikey OEM manufacturers that like "stretch" bolts and you can only use them once as they pass their elastic limit during the initial torque. If you never exceed the elastic limit you should be able to re-use them many times. All IMHO of course

I reuse them all the time TBH, and i dont normally bother to measure them on instalation, as the torque figures given are well under the point of elasticty anyway, so i dont view it as an issue.

Gareth is kind of right though, if they were overtightened (by quite a bit not just a couple of lbft) before, and you then undo them now and tighten them again then potentially you will go too far past that point of elascticity.
