Default Can you start engine and lock doors from the outside?

as title? no remote start by the way, just starting the engine and then locking the doors from the outside with another key? Is that possible, ive never tried it

apparently on some cars there is some ways of doing it..

if you create a fuse between some of the wiring in the rear lights cant remember which ones.. you can unlock it and start the ignition allowing you to bump it off...

as far as i no this is a myth, You see aimilar in gone in 60 with the fog lamp being fused, the idea is that the alarm is on the same cicuite as the lamp so bridging it will blow the alarm, problem is if the lamp is off where is the current to blow the fuse going to come from???

as for the unlocking by messing with the reaer lights, could be related to getting to the loom behind and tricking the car into thinking the boot lid is opened buy the key, there by trigering the central locking, this however would mean ripping out the cluster

So to sum up, just another urban legend!!!

put a turbo timer on it mate! start the car, switch the car off (turbo timer keeps it running) get out and lock the door with the key, go inside and finish your cup of tea while the car is warming up niceley out side, but make sure you keep your eye on it tho mate.

I used to do it all the time. Locking your doors with a key shouldnt activate the alarm. Try it and find out?

no reason why you couldnt fit an external start stop system, some alarms come with it allready! you can start the car from the living room, watch tv while she hots up, then out ya go and unlock with another button and away you go!!! that or find someone a bit handy on wiring and get a second ignition fitted somewhere! key through the grill or in the boot lid or some thing, if ppl can fit a cos block in a festa an ignition swith should be no biggy

I used to use the clifford concept 5 billion alrm that was on my old crx vtec, i payed £600 for the wreck of the car and the lad had just spent £680 on the bastard alarm the knob.

Proper functional for cold winter mornings, set the heaters to full bore the night before, then just wake up press a button, get ready and jump in your nice warm car and go to work

Yes you can, I used to do it all the time with my old S2 and that had a cat1 alarm fitted, just lock the doors manually (with the key) and dont press the fob.

Done it also with both my mondeos and also my sprinter van

shows what you know mate

the way it works is by shorting the indicator with a bit of foil when you go to enter the car when it triggers the alarm it then makes the indicators flash and when that happens the short blows the fuse

btw that was the old 90's way of nicking cars,,,,,,,,,, since then the alarm companys use a perm live feed not feed from the indicator stalks and have there own fuse so this no longer happens,,,,,,,,,,,, but it did happen and it happened alot too !!!!!

If it's for the car in your sig then yes you can do it cause to activate the alarm you have to keep the key turned in the lock for a few seconds till the indicators flash

I do this with my poxhall Omega, altho on them you can remove the keys from the ignition, once the car is running and then walk away, but if you touch the brake or clutch without the key in, the engine shuts down
