Default 7 Series BMW's

Right bored and on the net is leathal Was looking at cars and i honestly cant belive how much 7 series BMW's go for LOT of car for the money, though suppose running cost would be sky high especially on V12 models, but whats the 728's like to run much more than a norm 328, 528?

My old man had an 728i and a 740il. (The E38 shape) With regards to the 728i it needed a new engine as early ones had a problem. BMW would replace it if it was under 5 years old or under 100k or something along those lines. The same engine was used in the 328i and the 528i I think as some of them had the same. Check out here http://www.bmwworld.com/engines/nikasil.htm

Great cars. He got an lpg conversion for the 728i which was good. Both cars now sold now.

But yeh loads of car for the money. Spec wise is huge for the price you pay and go on for ages. 740il had 170k on the clock when it was sold and still running strong.

So the 728 motors not that good in them, or when you say only on early models upt o what year?

Dont think i would get one due to the mileage i do so a TDI is much more up my street. But somthing is calling me to them What mpg was your old man getting out of the 728 without LPG of course

The 728i he had was a 1996. But with the later ones there was not a problem as bmw changed part of the engines but if you were to buy a 728i you could check the engine number to see if it has the problem or not. The 728i sport looks a very nice car. I think they are 1998/1999 and they don't have the problem. There is loads of info on the internet about it.

With regards to the mpg I can't remember mate It was about 4 years ago since he sold it. He did a lot of miles and it was killing him hence he got the lpg done

Get hold of a nice E34 M5........ Can't go wrong there, and will barely depreciate....If it's a good one, bought cheap, then you could even make money.

Yeah true Jim, but i dont think i could afford to run two performance cars on a student budget, M5 and 400bhp cossie would kill me I am thinking of Choping VW in for somthing a bit older and save cash and have somthing older and speical.

Do u get those % seriers in 530d's? And if so whats the spec of them? Prob a lot though i would imagine as its a derv
